  • And getting highly rated kids on the team hasn't been the issue. Them panning out has.

    • I think that is correct (Derick Green, Lyle Kalis for example, among others).

Is that a scouting issue or other?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

If RichRod wants him then by definition, he's not a big loss.

        • Both were very highly rated (5-stars by some), Green very overrated. IMO the 'x' factor that we don't see is how much work kids put in and I'd add football IQ in there too. Those two things makes a lot of three-stars outperform four stars and four stars without those qualities will perform like a two star.

Good coaches can push kids to get as much out of their ability as possible.

          • I'm not big on the recruiting scene do they take into account ages? My son plays against kids that may be a year or more older than him in the same grade. Some towns "redshirt " their kids in kindergarten.

            • I really like O'Maury Samuels, he's really explosive and can get to the edge... Kurt Taylor reminds me too much of DeVeon Smith, he's a tough runner but subpar speed, explosion, and making defenders miss for a B1G running back.

M should be aiming higher than AJ Dillon, I like him more as a linebacker though I doubt he'd be a 'take' as a LB for M. Possibly an H-Back, I just don't see a lot of upside from Taylor/Dillon...

M has Kareem Walker, Kingston Davis & Chris Evans from '16 & Karan Higdon from '15; it's not a position were desperate for talent but there was nothing in front of those four either so M needed numbers.

              • I don't know why Taylor is in the class, but whatever.

I like Dillon a lot. He looks like a faster deveon, but it's really hard to get a feel for "power back" on high school film.

                • Dillon is one big back who didn't look out of place in a 7-7 setting.

                  • We don't need numbers at tailback but we need one huge game breaker.

                    • Just finished watching Chuck Filiaga and Aledo at the Dallas Cowboy training facility (The Star) in Frisco. The place is ridiculously nice. Chuck is definitely a monster. I've seen him get beat a few times but overall he is a roadgrader between the tackles. Aledo ices the game running behind this kid in the middle of the 4th quarter. My only knock on him is average foot speed. When he got beat, he was able to stick his gigantic arms out to stop the ends. At the next level, this ain't gonna cut it. It reminded me of players WITH great feet and I automatically thought of Suh and how he played soccer as a kid. More lineman should take up soccer. Anywho, I am thoroughly impressed with his power on running plays and could see a home for him at M with Najee.

                      • That's why he'll be a G in college and not tackle.

He's not bad at identifying offensive skill guys, although he seemed to want the shortest offensive unit in the Big Ten while at Michigan.
