  • Hudson is a 3-tech but the 'anchor' (SDE) is very similar in M's defense.

    • Everyone's grant-of-rights (GOR) lasts through 2025, except for the SEC which allegedly doesn't have one. Texas, the only program that is worth adding (when you're already at $40mil in media revenue), has the LHN through 2031. Expansion isn't going to happen for the B1G for some time...

Big XII if they expand will probably extend their GOR along with the length of their media deal.

      • I liked the GA Tech/UNC idea from a few years ago, even though that really stretches the map out.

        • ACC just extended their GOR's along with their TV deal through 2036.

          • When M adds Darnay Holmes, DPJ, Isaiah Wilson, Slaton, Singleton, Nico Collins, Ambry Thomas and JPK to their class that will give them 295.71 points with 27 commits. And I figure they're 60/40 to flip Najee Harris -- so that will put them at 303.21 with 28 commits. So, still maybe 1 or 2 spots to squeeze in another top 50 player.

            • Which again means very little to those that consider the NFL & Pro ranks to be the pinnacle of the sport.

Maybe Denver should return their Vince Lombardi Trophy?

Last year's Super Bowl was a three-star extravaganza all around. This one brings a wider disparity. Carolina's projected starters averaged 3.37 recruiting stars, while Denver's averaged 2.44.

              • They'll be dropping one or two "sleeper" guys who don't pan out this fall as well, I'm sure.

Last year's CFB National Champs had been #1 in recruiting for each year from 2012-15. The previous season's CFB National Champs were top 5 the seasons leading up to their national championship. Clemson's team was built on landing some elite players including, of course, DeShaun Watson.

Meanwhile, schools like Georgia State, FIU, UConn, Akron, etc. finish outside the top 100.

So, yeah, recruiting doesn't matter. Good point.

I would think so. I'm not sure where they are on numbers. I've read high 20s. Ordinarily I'd say stacking back-to-back 30 kid classes will create crunch issues down the road. However, in today's CFB world you take as many as you can reasonably take and "process out" those who "don't completely buy in" to the program.

Ah, I see your point, just give the Vince Lombardi to Urban Meyer?

                      • They don't hand out the Vince Lombardi at the Kiddie Table.

                              • Seemed to me like any on-the-spot commits weren't going to be the real high-value targets. Bateman seems like he would have but they are slow-playing him?

Which is fine. Stay in the game for those top names. Anyone you're slow-playing now isn't a huge loss.
