In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.
1st tier (Ohio State), 2nd tier (Michigan), 3rd tier (Maryland, Iowa, Penn State, Rutgers, Sparty, NW, Nebraska, Wisconsin), then 4th/poop (Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue & Illinois).
6 of 7 in the East in '3rd' tier (or higher) and Indiana is probably in a '4th' tier by themselves and the '4th' tier/poop could probably be labeled a '5th'...
Illini really needs to do something, try to be the Oregon of the B1G. They actually have in-state talent unlike their neighbors in Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana or even Nebraska. Why can't that program at least hit a double with a coaching hire?
Also would love to see one program in the West rise to the top of the West; preferably Nebraska so the B1G title game isn't a huge mismatch and that division isn't thought of as a joke.

The only way to solve the East/West divide in the B10 is to realign the teams. Move MSU to the West and Purdue to the East. Better yet, move UM to the West, and let the normal schedule play out with the MSU/UM and the OSU/UM games.

Nobody in the West wants to play Michigan less if Sparty were to be an annual game with M. Nobody but possibly Sparty (but only if M is annual) and Indiana might be willing to move West.
No easy or good solutions, all the good programs want to play each other annually and are rivals; Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Sparty. Maryland & Rutgers have to be included with Penn State. Even if Sparty wants to move West in exchange for Purdue (I don't think they do, yet), everybody in the West would take issue with playing Michigan less.
