  • Brian did, more or less, a dream finish for M in recruiting. 28 recruits and basically every big name M is plausibly in on. If that happens then M ends up at 296.45 and change per 247 Composite. Meanwhile, if OSU adds the 3 kids I feel most confident about, they're only at 284.27.

    • You have room for about 4 more?

      • M needs to land their share of top 100 overall types to get above 280. That's about where I think they'll end up too. Top 4-8 class, actual ranking depends more on how many recruits others sign than the quality of M's class...

Paea will certainly receive a significant ratings boost as should O'Maury Samuels & J'Marick Woods imo..

Currently McCaffrey is the only top 180 overall recruit they've committed. OSU has 8 and are strong favorites for a couple more.

        • People seem to think 22-23.

            • There will be aggressive roster management. They are currently 11 over for 2017. 2 have to come off the books by August, but that's still 9. And they only have a few candidates to go pro and only a couple redshirt seniors they can push out.

              • ......... Gasp!
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                  • I did a quick breakdown of recruits in the B10 footprint using the 247 Composite. There is one caveat -- 247 will often put IMG players in Florida. So, Kaindoh is listed in Florida instead of Maryland. I corrected the obvious ones like Kaindoh and Marcus Williamson. The other caveat is that it's still early in the ranking period. NJ has a ton of middling 3* players that have been evaluated by only 1 service. As the year progresses, their composite ranking should become more robust.

I broke recruits into 4 categories: 5* (DPJ, Josh Meyers, Kaindoh, etc); 4* above 0.95 (top 105); 4* below 0.95 (105-250) and 3* above 0.85 (kids like Trey Pugh and Derrius Mullins -- Ohio kids that I think can definitely play in the B10 -- middle to upper 3* players).

                    Ohio -------- 1 --- 1 --- 13 --- 14 -- 29
                    Michigan ---- 1 --- 0 --- 8 --- 10 -- 19
                    New Jersey -- 0 --- 2 --- 2 --- 14 -- 18
                    Maryland ---- 1 --- 2 --- 5 --- 6 -- 14
                    Penna ------- 0 --- 4 --- 4 --- 5 -- 13
                    Illinois ------ 1 --- 1 --- 3 --- 6 -- 11
                    Indiana ----- 1 --- 0 --- 2 --- 6 -- 9
                    Iowa -------- 0 --- 0 --- 0 --- 6 -- 6
                    Wisconsin --- 0 --- 0 --- 0 --- 2 -- 2
                    Minny ------- 0 --- 0 --- 0 --- 1 -- 1
                    Nebraska -- 0 --- 0 --- 0 --- 0 -- 0

I think on the whole this is fairly representative. I do think that overall Michigan is probably higher than normal and Illinois is probably a little lower than normal. I think Pennsylvania usually has a few more elite recruits, and I'd guess Minnesota and Wisconsin are low.

One thing that caught my eye -- and I think is definitely true -- is the high end talent Maryland has. You can definitely get some really good players from that state.

The obvious thing is looking at East/West footprint.

                    East: 4 -- 9 -- 34 -- 55 -- 92
                    West: 2 -- 1 -- 11 -- 21 -- 35 (Indiana counted for both)

The other thing of some interest is looking at Maryland/Rutgers: 1-4-7-20. In terms of adding valuable recruiting grounds, the expansion was worth it. Perhaps the only value added -- certainly from Rutgers.

                    • Just thought of another IMG kid -- Hainsey. 0.95+ 4* from PA.

I surely wish UM had more players that "might go pro".

                          • M will have a lot of draftees after this season. Not a ton of 1st day draftees but quite a few 3rd-to-6th rounders.
