  • I don't think M is interested in Camp.

I feel worse about them asking recruits to read the tea leaves. I agree with ``just pick up the damn phone''. Perhaps there's something there I'm not sensitive to that leads to them being cagey like this, but in that case at least do it well in advance. Either way, I'm comfortable with the idea of not offering guys their fifth years. Beilein does that too. The younger ones are a more complex situation, and we're not gonna have enough details on a regular basis, but I don't like the idea of suddenly throwing the rules at a player when you need to clear space. The rules are the rules. Everybody benefits when they are applied the same all the time and in all cases. Long-term gains from that even if short-term pains.

      • They want their Plan Bs locked down. Then they'll cull as needed when needed. As opposed to recruiting a kid as a Plan B and calling him up from the minors at the 11th hour.

The former strikes me as unnecessary because I think most coaches can figure out which kids they can put on the Plan B route and which ones they'll have to take or risk losing. It'll be interesting to see if JH plots a course for 2017 that is different from what he has done at Stanford and M.

I'm far more curious to see how they get down to 88 by NLOID.

        • Cole was in the doghouse almost all year and was always rumored to be kicked off the team.

Why is Cole allegedly being kicked off the team? Any info?

            • They were always coy about it over at Rivals, but there was always the comment "wouldn't surprise us if he's not back" type of thing. I don't recall ever reading anything specific, but some of it was off field stuff.

                • I believe it is plausible that JH underestimated how well UM would do in recruiting, particularly in NJ. Certainly the 2015 class he "assembled" would not have given him confidence. He certainly targeted NJ this year, and I believe he has said that he is going to target GA next year.

                  • Have not seen anything official that says Cole is gone.

                    • Weed was issue with Cole, allegedly of course...

Scout said there is a hard limit of 30 that M is up against... 28 on signing day, limit of 25 plus 3 with attrition you can count for. Not sure where the extra 2 come from, early enrollees is about the only possibility...

85 is really what they are up against but there is still expected to be quite a bit more attrition.

I thought they had enough EEs (7 or so) to push back to the class of 2015 to make the 28 moot. My understanding is that they absolutely have to be at 88 on signing day with a plan as to how to get to 85.

                          • Glad to see Harbaugh bring Michigan into the 21st century of college recruiting, NCAA doesn't like it? Fix it.

It's often said, sausage making is a messy business most wouldn't eat the end result if they've witnessed the process.

Hack might be the exception, doubt he has ever met a sausage that he didn't like.

A poster on the 247 board has information very similar to Sam's*: word around De La Salle is that Bossiasi is telling people Michigan is the pick. DOTMAN, a mod there, also suggested Asiasi is trending to Michigan. Circumstantial evidence: Tagaloa cancelled a midweek visit to Cal, and Asiasi is not going to Alabama.
