  • Frankly, I'm sick of Weber's whining and his drama act around all this. I might have some empathy (but not much) if he just kept his mouth shut like he absolutely should. I'm also pissed that adults on his side of the table didn't do a better job of getting this kid's head screwed on straight. Where the hell was Wilcher in all of this?
    ^^^ this ^^^

JH literally kept talking to Weber up until the last minute, trying to get the kid to Michigan. But nope, .. he drank a big icy glass of red kool-aid, and now he gets to reap the results. My guess is, he will take Brionte Dunn's place on the bench.

Because of what happened to Weber, I think more athletes should wait beyond the first day of LOI, and see what their intended schools do. That would be the last day that any coach would dare wait until, if he were being considered for another job.

Terrel Pryor waited nearly a month before finally signing his LOI. More kids need to follow that policy, IMO.

    • Malik McDowell was quite the odyssey, too. Malik and Pryor really played that shit up.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

        • Now we go and hire Miami's Asst. Director of Football Ops as a recruiting coordinator. Great to see we've reached the recruiting world of the 2000s.

It took a while for all of the extra options to be negotiated and added.

                • True, Mike Weber is a whiner. He wants to be the only back recruited. He was put-off when Michigan was recruiting Damien Harris. When Nussmeier courted him, Weber talked about being showed the love he was looking for. He kept Harbaugh waiting until NSD, then got butt-hurt that Higdon committed. UFM is a douche bag, but Weber should have known that. He's being unrealistic if he believes he'll be the man at osu. He's not as good as he thinks, and UFM will probably bring in two RBs better than Weber next year. Still, I'd like to see him challenge osu legally. Drag the douche bag's name through the mud some more.

                      • Also agreed:

Not sour grapes; I just don't think Weber or his family/handlers acted in a responsible way with regard to his recruitment at both M and osu. Yeah, he's a kid but he reportedly had lots of adults around him, including his HS coach, Wilcher, to advise him. They all let him down, IMO.

The NCAA is stupefyingly behind in addressing the crock-o-shit that is the college football recruiting and LOI signing process. I believe Weber has a good shot at challenging his LOI on the basis of either inadequate advice of counsel or terms not fully disclosed. It would be an interesting undertaking.

Although I've never seen an LOI (I'd like to if anyone has a copy), I have a hard time believing the legal aspects of it are properly covered. Maybe they are but if the NCAA is involved in formatting one that tells you it's not enforceable. The school's legal staff may have had input that would make it moreso. Hopefully we'll see.

I'm empathetic with the claim that hi-value recruits (the ones with multiple offers that coaches are scrambling for) feel a lot of pressure to sign an LOI on NSD to reserve their place in a class. CFB programs have leverage and if they choose to use it in a way we may feel is inappropriate, there is nothing stopping them. That's the problem. The kids and their families are getting leveraged and they have little recourse because the process is very badly flawed and slanted in favor of programs that choose to use that leverage or have boosters who are gifting a recruit.

Frankly, I don't think it impossible for smart people who give a shit about the integrity of CFB to sit down and define a process that levels the playing field for all programs and gives kids the rights and balance they deserve in this process.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                          • Harbaugh bitch slaps Meyer via Twitter.

Can't wait for the customary handshake, no doubt Meyer will fake another mysterious illness.

                            • An appropriate jab at Meyer, and OlieO, where the lying didn't stop with the departure of Tressell.

Hey Meyer, .. "What's your deal?"
