Mgoblog reports:
Hey… uh… nevermind. Ace dutifully compiled a commitment post for three-star CA WR Deontay Burnette after various outlets reported he'd flipped his commitment to Michigan. That is apparently not happening.
WTF happened? Nobody really knows, but Sam Webb says that there was a "miscommunication"($) and that Michigan won't actually take a commit from him. If that sounds weird… yeah, it's weird. You'd think by this point anyone coming in with a pulse who wants to commit would be greenlit.?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

Grant Perry only received offers from MAC schools and NW... Maybe has Dileo potential?
Still better than nothing.
If you follow Chris Clark on Twitter, he still says he has no idea... Geez, when I made my college decision, it wasn't forced like Clark's decision might be forced if there is a deadline.
and it isn't new news, but Iman Marshall is likely USC all the way unfortunately.
I think we have a shot at Weber... Sounds like his heart is with Michigan, but his mind is with OSU. Tough call.

Recruiting board:
*RB: Mike Weber (every indication is he'll stick at OSU)
*WR: Van Jefferson Deontay Burnett, Grant Perry...
*TE: Chris Clark (most expecting UCLA), Tyrone Wheatley Jr. (other insiders just expect him to end up at M while M insiders have no clue)
*LB: Roquan Smith (trending away from M, UCLA confident recently)
Wheatley and a couple 3* receivers will be more than a slight disappointment to finish this class.

RE: Clark
UCLA is a beautiful campus and very expensive, hanging in LA on an athletic scholarship is not going to cut it. you better come from a wealthy family. Besides Mora didn't pass to a single TE last year WTF?
Harbaugh is the prize anyway and he will bring it like a freight train, 2016 Top 5 class.?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?

UCLA Pros for Clark:
- Better weather
- Hollywood
- Josh Rosen
- Less competition at TE (Michigan has Butt, Williams, Bunting, & Hill... That's good depth)
- Sounds like Clark has a better relationship with the offensive coordinator at UCLA? ... Whereas Harbaugh & Fisch just got to UM
- More hot girls
- UCLA has had much more recent success at winning... And that is what Clark has seen in the prime of his viewership of college football (the last 2 seasons)
Maybe that is what Clark sees in UCLA... Those are better than some of what Jay Harbaugh wrote on that paper. Kids don't care about "most wins in college football history" as a big factor when making a decision.
In the last 5 days with Clark's Twitter account, his retweets heavily favor UCLA. Not a good sign.Last edited by Cody_Russell; February 3, 2015, 07:37 AM.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Man, the Scout guys really think Weber is going to flip -- Sam Webb and Allen Trieu...obviously both local, on-the-ground guys who have good in-state connections (generally, I ignore Webb on anyone not in-state). Their source is almost surely the Cass Tech coach who, as I understand it, loves M.
From the OSU side, they really think he's coming.
If I were to add it up, Weber is telling OSU he's still signing and may or may not be planning to flip tomorrow. That's some Hercule Poirot shit right there!Last edited by iam416; February 3, 2015, 08:50 AM.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

The real Nancy Drew Mystery shit is that Clark & Weber committed to Hoke in the first place?
You've got to be kidding?
Let me see a Hoke led Michigan or a kickass Harbaugh led Michigan, not even a choice.?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?

It's one of the weird things about CFB. Some guys are just really, really good recruiters. Hoke and Mattison (and the rest of the staff) were really good recruiters. The evidence bears that out. Hell, Mason Cole's father told me what a great recruiter Hoke was.
UFM *loves* recruiting. He insists that anyone on his staff *love* recruiting. Because, honestly, if you don't you'll get beat. I mean, he could probably half-ass it and still get a top 20 class just because it's OSU and it's in Ohio, but that's not going to win titles.
Elite kids have every choice. And you need elite kids to get to the promised land. You're not going to beat Alabama with a bunch of middling home-state kids who grew up dying to play for your team and who would play there if Betty White were the coach (and she may be a better talent developer than Hoke). You need elite kids. Some of them you have an inherent advantage with -- in-state, if you're lucky -- but even then you have to fend off other elite powers (OSU lost the #1 in-state kid for 2016 to ND). But for most elite kids you have to go sell your school and program. Tell them how you're going make them into a great player/student (whatever) and build a relationship with them that is convincing.
Coach Hoke, oddly enough, could do all of that. Coach Hoke's problem was that "theory" was running into "testimony" -- it's one thing to sell a vision in year 1 or 2 or 3, but by year 5 there's testimony...it's on the field.
JH will get into a lot of living rooms because he is JH and he coaches at M. But from there he's in a battle with other programs that can offer just as much. He's going to have to outrecruit Dantonio and OSU in-state, OSU, PSU and ND in the Midwest and Alabama, Texas, Florida, LSU, USC, etc. nationally. You don't do that unless you're a really good recruiter. It will be interesting to see what sort of recruiting chops JH has.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Tea leaves are looking pretty shitty for the 2015 finish. Wouldn't surprise me if we got shut out of every 4* guy that we are targeting right now, including Wheatley. I guess we'll probably get one but it is looking like the 2015 class is going to go down mostly as a disaster, especially coming on the heels of the 2014 class that collapsed spectacularly at the end. 2016 needs to be Top 5 material and we need blue chippers at every position on the field.Last edited by Hannibal; February 3, 2015, 10:18 AM.
