  • I don't have names for you but I thought there were a few other receiver options. I could be wrong. Plus I remember seeing mixed reviews on Payton a while back, either here or at mgoblog. Who knows whether they were valid or not.

    • One look at the depth chart says we need WRs badly:

Next year's team looks thin at several positions.

      • Yep, there are holes all over the roster. This is a complete re-build rather than re-vamp job. It is unfortunately going to take a few recruiting classes to fix it.

        • Madrais would most likely be the fall back option if Payton goes to ND.

          • How was he blown away? The two games he's watched ND they got beat.

            • Results of the games have very little to do with that when it comes to official visits.

Unfortunately, Monty Madaris, does not compare favorably to Payton in ranking or offer list.

                • Some mixed reviews on Jordan Payton but I'm not one of his detractors; he's a top 150 overall prospect and a very solid 4* talent with a very impressive offer list...

I'm not near as high on the WR talent after M's top two options: Darboh & Payton...

Madaris, Chesson, Powe (no offer yet, plan C option) etc. are clearly a tier below in talent level.

                  • Notre Dame already has 3 WRs committed in the current class. Payton should know that he would have an excellent shot at seeing the field for 4 years at Michigan. Stonum, Jackson, and Robinson would be the only WRs ahead of him.

                        • Gallon and Dileo are both slot recievers. I think Rock was listing only big recievers (and thus the lack of Roundtree as well)

                          • I've been really impressed with J Gallon this year.

Next year with Roundtree, Stonum, and Gallon that will be a pretty lethal WR corp. I guess about as lethal as right now though huh. If we can get our QB to be able to get them the ball now will be another issue.

                            • Looks like Payton will delay his decision; not great news but not overly unexpected as he's just off an official visit to ND which of course excited him quite a bit...

He'll likely decide after the luster of the official visit wears off. ND is probably the only competition.
