  • satellite camps had gone on for years... coaches going to other camps wasn't anything new. Today the NCAA banned them. JH has done many good things for Michigan and for CF. But it would be wrong to suggest the NCAA's decision wasn't a direct result of JH actions. Hurts all the schools in the north.

    • Yep. Pushing the spirit of rules typically ends up in new rules.

Looking forward to huge burn from HARBAUGH!!!!! twitter account, though!

      • I do find it interesting how quickly the NCAA can make this decision since Harbaugh's practice in Florida.. yet when it comes to eligibility, the NCAA needs months..

then again, it's about the student, right?

          • Its just more NCAA pandering to the SEC, attempting to cover up its own stupidity.

Harbaugh will simply find something else. The dykes at the NCAA won't have enough fingers to contain all the leaks in their idiotic rules.

              • I'm ready to take the Pac 12 and split away from the SEC. ACC and Big XII can take whichever sides. It's not remotely a level playing field with what goes on in the deep south recruiting. It's getting much worse from what I hear and other schools you wouldn't expect are getting involved in an attempt to compete with the cheaters.

                • Damn this factor called "money."
If only SEC, ACC, PAC12, and B12 elites would want to make less money, they might have voted against the ruling.

                  • ACC was very much against the satellite camps as well and with the camps in Texas and California too, I could see the Big XII and Pac 12 against them too. It was an uphill battle to continue them and the SEC was willing to go to great lengths to end them.

                      • Gotta agree with the NCAA here. It was a great gimmick by Harbaugh, but not really a good idea to take recruiting to another level. Somehow the poor underprivileged football players in the south will continue to get good offers.

Then explain why the NCAA removed restrictions on texting recruits? Talk about taking things to the next level....

What about kids who won't get offers but still want to learn from the best coaches around the country? They don't matter, obviously.

As a Texas Tech fan, this blows. Tech holds clinics in Dallas and Houston every year. Tech doesn't get the creme of the crop so those camps are vital for brand identification, identifying players, and introducing them themselves to potential players. No kid is going to drive 5-8 hours to a coaching clinic in Lubbock. These satellite camps helped even the field, even if it was just a small amount.

Greg McElroy had some good ideas about this...

What really burns my bottom is Jim Delany's lack of fight for this. He's such a vagina.

                            • McElroy's proposal is basically what was going on....until HARBAUGH!!!!! decided to amp shit up and go full bore SWARM!!!!! In the end, he obtained no discernible recruiting benefit and poked a hornet's nest that provoked an over-reaction.

Hopefully the NCAA will eventually get us back to the sensible use of satellite camps pre-HARBAUGH!!!!

                              • HARBAUGH!! operated within in the rules. It's not his fault coaches in the south don't' want to work as hard as he does. The net result of the NCAA's decision will only hurt the little guys and not Michigan anyway.
