      • Thanks for that, talent.

Maybe the best piece on recruiting and scouting HS guys I've seen.

You made me a believer in the relationships thing about two recruiting seasons ago. This adds to the strength of that factor in recruiting and adds a few other pieces of the puzzle.

Sleepovers rule. Hiring your targets coach seems to help too.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        • I think the list doesn't recognize the fact that some kids hit growth spurts at 19.. and where they play in HS may not be where they play in college. Finding those guys can separate you from others. But if a guys brothers all grew into DE's during their first yrs in college, then the youngest brother most likely will too.

            Yep.

Of the 30 things he posted, I think the two most important are "comfort and relationships" and "watch what they do, not what they say." For example, Gary had Partridge at M. Gary (or his mom) was going to predictably talk about how great the USC and Clemson visits were. But they've been to M numerous times and even went their in January one more time. I'm pretty sure I said that if he takes an unofficial to M in January, it's over.

I also like the one about "if they set a decision date, the decision is made." So true.

I also like his take on different positions, but that's harder for me to put to practical use. I don't watch film on 100 different QBs so I don't really have a sense of what "quick decision-making" looks like.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Picture OP with his phone and asking himself ``Should I call IMG again?'' That's basically what it's like.

                    • It's not everyday you get to fire a lump of shit like this and hire a replacement coach that should be in the NFL. Enjoy it.

                        • Yeah, that was pretty enlightening.

In other news (Or the same old news) Jimmy sure does have those southerners butthurt:

"In the cut throat world of college football recruiting they almost must object to anything Harbaugh does to gain a toe hold in a recruiting territory which puts the barren wasteland in which he resides to shame."

With National Signing Day in the rearview a college football fan’s thoughts tend to move on to the next red letter day(s) on the calendar: spring practice. And while Coach Kirby Smart is imploring...

Michigan in September? Cool and briskly refreshing. Michigan from Thanksgiving through Easter? The ice planet Hoth with more wildlife and better beer.
