  • From a poster at MgoBlog: A Kalis slip of the tongue?

In an interview with The Wolverine (behind paywall), Kalis has an interesting quote. Could be nothing, but it feels like something. "It was just the great family atmosphere at Michigan. All the kids in the class … I'm close with Tom [Strobel] and Bri'onte [Dunn] - Bri'onte's not in the class, but I'm close with all these guys. Chris Wormley, all these guys - Maggs [Erig Magnuson]. The coaches - it just felt like a family there. It felt like home."
I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.

Saw that too; let's hope there's something to it. Been too long without any recruiting updates/commitments!

      • Dunn is likely waiting for the sanctions to be handed down until he makes his switch. Any kind of post season bowl ban is probably going to tip the scale in our favor. I think the only reason he doesn't make the switch now, is because of the abuse and threats that will result, when he makes his change. He probably figures its worth it to delay his announcement until later, to avoid all that abuse.

        • I hope the game yesterday doesnt turn any of our recruits. When this class of '12 become RS sophmores and Juniors your gonna see a much different Michigan defense...too bad that three seasons away!

          • Well, we will certainly lose any recruits who were hoping to have careers in the WWE.

I don't have a problem with the D so far this season, they kept us in the game yesterday giving up only 21 points and have done fairly well this season to date. It just bothers me how much DR has regressed at QB and I don't think that DG is going to be answer right now. I think it's like Doc says it starts from the LOS.

              • Yeah, the team was in position to tie the game in the 4th quarter and the offense couldn't get it done. Pinning this one on the defense doesn't make sense to me. It was the offenses repeated stalls in MSU territory that killed us, along with the coaching staffs continual refusal to go for it on 4th down instead of punting. I guess the punting worked because we kept pinning them deep, and eventually in the 4th quarter we got a TD off of a short field after a punt exchange, but in general, if you repeatedly punt from your opponents 35 yard line, you are going to lose.

                • I am certainly not pinning this L on the D. I'm just saying were gonna see a big upgrade in talent in a few years.

                  • Is Dunn the only RB on the board for '12? Looks like it from WM's list.

I think we desperately need a big bruising back suited for the WCO offense, and fearful we're putting all our eggs in one basket with Dunn.

Haven't been impressed with Toussaint, Smith, Shaw, etc.

                    • I think that was part of the problem on offense yesterday, Paul. There was no go-to guy at RB who we could just give the ball to, and have them pick up some tough yards. Of course, some of that is the OL's problem as well. The Rich Rodriguez O-Line is built for speed rather than strength, and yesterday, it was a factor in the loss. Too much pressure was on Robinson and the passing game, and that is what the spartans wanted.

                      • I'm surprised we didn't pound Fitz more,I think he can be a power back for us. I think the main problem was our oline getting manhandled. That will change as well with the likes of Kalis, Maggs, etc coming in.

                        • I didn't see much of Fitz later in the game, did he get injured again?

                          • There are other Plan B types at running back after Dunn.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
