  • They can't and they wont.

This is just Harbaugh poking his finger in the eye of the SEC and daring them to do something about it.

The BIG is at a distinct disadvantage in recruiting HS football players from the Southern states and SOCAL for several reasons, weather, distance to name two. There's another as well but I can't prove any of that so, oh, well.

I'd like to see other schools in the BIG do it too. No reason not to other than stubbornness on the part of opposing HCs and not wanting to be perceived as chasing Harbaugh shenanigans.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

    • they can't stop teams from having practice down there ... what they are trying to stop allowing teams to have practice over spring break. Since Harbaugh is mixing in some vacation time, it's a hard argument for them to make ... however, they are saying the kids don't have a choice and have to give up their break.

I wish Delaney would have the balls to take the NCAA to court on both this and the satellite camp issue in case they rule against us.

      • Doesn't help that at least half the B1G is against JH on this too.

Michigan gets plenty of guys who "decide" to go to a military school.
That's just nonsense. I'd surely like to see of list of all these guys who graduated high school and then decided to attend a military academy before matriculating to UM. The nice thing about this scheme is that the player maintains 4 years of eligibility. Remember, this whole discussion started with the basic question "How does Ohio State have a 22-year-old sophomore QB leading them to a national title?"

Report: SEC wants to block Michigan from holding spring ball in Florida

What a bunch of wussified pansies. Harbaugh, I'm sure, would not object if SEC schools wanted to spend their spring break and practice in Michigan during the last week of February-first week of March. Come on up, you bunch of fair weather sissies. If you can't take the cold, stay out of the igloo! (Or something like that.)

                • Baseball and softball teams from the North that have to spend their entire spring down south just to get a full season in, will have no sympathy for the SEC's belly aching. They give up their spring break as well. They really don't have a leg to stand on.

                  • Harbaugh has already said that part of the trip will be to go to the beach or the putt-putt and have some fun.

Besides, a certain number of kids will not have had the chance to go south for spring break.

                    • can someone explain how this is different than Beilein taking his team on a tour through Europe during summer break, or Spanish class having a week long trip to Spain during spring break?

This is BS ... time for the media to start calling the SEC out.
If SEC schools want to come and have spring practice or camps in the midwest, good for them.

                      • Time for JH to point this stuff out, and really hit on the four-year scholarship versus the one-year scholarship. 1-year scholarship schools should be allowed 80 scholarships, and 4-year scholarship schools should get 100.

Ole Miss was cited today for 24 NCAA violations, 13 of which are against the football team and 9 of which occurred during Hugh Freese's tenure.

                        • Not sure this is any different than Bama renovating Clinton-Dix' & Dee Hart's high school when they practiced there during bowl practices...

First issue is obviously when HARBAUGH practices at IMG (or wherever else), those recruits can go visit him and M can recruit them. It also puts a Block M flag at IMG academy which helps builds M's brand in Florida.

The real issue the SEC, ACC is they want to protect their recruiting grounds from the B1G and not allow B1G programs to come into their turf and hold practices, camps, etc.

                            LMAO.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Very good point, Pasadena. The problem with the media is, that they like the SEC, and they want them to be the premier conference in football. So, I wouldn't expect them to start defending Jim Harbaugh at this point.
