  • Trying to temper my giddiness today, but maybe some of you guys who track recruiting, could comment on this. I think this class could be the best ever recruited at Michigan, supposing that the talent pans out.

Are there any previous classes that come close to the talent level of this group? I know the guys who won the NC in '97 were a very talented group, but they weren't all in the same class. Guys like Hutch, Everitt, Jansen, Backus, Steele, Woodson, et al ?

I'm trying to remember a class that held as much promise as this one does.

    • 1998 or 1995 was probably the best class M has ever recruited.

      • 98 was good, but all didn't pan out.

Liney, I think you might overrate this class. The OL is where everything starts, particularly with JH, and the OL in this class are nothing to brag about.

        • Temper your enthusiasm.

Gary is as NFL ready as a HS senior as any player that has gone to college according to most reports I've read. No one else in this class is close.

Levert Hill may be a play maker along with several other Freshman who might see the field their first year but ......

Too many things go into making a winning team to go nutz about this bunch of guys. Maybe after we see how things go in 2016 and if any of these guys play right away, then we can start thinking about greatest recruiting class ever.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

          • Yeah, I'd no way think this is in the conversation, but it depends on how you want to rank them. Incoming as recruits or evaluating it on how their careers panned out. Vastly different.

            • It should be fun watching this all work out.

I'm not predicting anything, I just think that from an athletic standpoint, this is a pretty exceptional group of players.

And, I agree that the 2017 class needs to be strong on the OL.

                • 2013 was as better on paper. Contemporary giddiness was extremely high. It's all in this thread.

But, look, 6 or 7 or 8 other teams just signed comparable classes. Pump the brakes. If this is one M's greatest classes then, well, that explains a lot.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
                  Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

In terms of on field results, the 1995 class is probably our best ever. In terms of recruiting rankings, our 1998 class was #1. That was the class with the country's #1 RB, #1 QB, and #1 and #2 WR. That's 4 5-star guys by today's ratings plus a large assortment of Top 250 types.

This class is about the mean for the Moeller/Carr years. We used to win national battles for 5* types on a regular basis.

Without doing any research Cesar Ruiz(solid 4 star, G/C) and Isaiah Wilson(5 star OT) should end up in the class as well as Jayraymond Hall(4 star) is already committed.

Edit: I see WM has it taken care of already. Thanks for that.

                        • Lots of new names will appear, lots of names will drop off but it's a rough draft that'll be very fluid. Hopefully some of the Pipeline 9 start to drop for the Wolverines come Spring along with a QB.

                          • Speaking of QB, I expect McCaffrey to decide this month and we're probably the favorites.

                            • McCaffery is supposed to commit soon.
