  • My wife thinks I'm nuts. It is embedded deep in my system
Doc: Tell her that there are things you have to give up when you get older and recruiting is not one of them.

Let's announce round #2 for '17. Same wager. OSU enters as the favorite, but I like were M is at with a lot of top 100 types.

I'd bet right now he ends up on defense and I especially would bet it if/when he puts on 10-20 lbs. IMO, he's too athletic and short to move to OL. He'd make a heck of a DE.

          • M will sign a better class in '17 than '16.

That's a hell of a prediction from our recruiting guru. (and I mean that in the most sincere manner) Care to elaborate?

                • If you read the comments section of the Lorenz VV Tweet (appears VV may not have been offered by M), it also appears like that decision came down as a result of the numbers game. I'm not real good at that so I'll leave it too others but it seems to me when it came down to crunch time, there wasn't room for him.

I'm finding Harbaugh to be a roster manager in the Saban mold. This is JH's first class. He made some questionable offers early, then went after some very talented players at WR and all over on D. When he got firm commits from them, like if you say you're coming, DO NOT FUCK ME OVER commits, the winnowing process started.

I don't know how this kind of rep is going to play going forward or if it plays in the mind of top recruits at all. For 2017, you have to know JH is going to get negged by his competition, big time for this roster management thing. Will it make a difference? My view is that HARBAUGH!!! does not care. He is going to forge his own path on his terms with respect to building a roster. There will be some top recruits that will buy into that sort of approach, some will be turned off by it. He is demonstrating he is who he is. If you want to play ball his way, if you want to play for Michigan, you'll do it on his terms.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                  • unless we take a wrong turn on the field, I think you all probably right ... I think smaller numbers, but a higher quality class.

I notice on 247 that Dytarious is the only one without a signed LOI ... wonder if JH has asked him to gray shirt and he is having second thoughts??

                    • Really, really like this class. Good to very good talent at every position group. Lots of athletes that will change positions if they grow. I'd guess at least one of the ATH's ends up at defensive back. Khaleke Hudson is athletic enough to play safety but plays like a linebacker, his coverage skills will decide what position he lands at...

JH 'upgraded' the 3-star talent tremendously in January. The new 3-stars are guys (Hudson, Uche, Bosse, Dwumfour, etc.) who look every bit a 4-star if they were an inch or two taller... HARBAUGH!!! didn't land his left tackle (Hamilton) you want but Bredeson and Onwenu should be really good and both could help relatively soon... I liked the talent level of Sir Patrick Scott (Marshall) but he couldn't get admitted to M...

No 'elite' playmaking receiver but a strong, deep group. Hopefully M lands that playmaking receiver in '17, preferably the in-state one in M's backyard. Being such a large class, it addressed pretty much every need M's roster had.

                      • don't think JH is doing much different from Satan ... just that all the wacky/zany things Harbaugh does keeps him in the spotlight and so when there is something negative, it's also magnified.

                          • re: M's '17 recruiting class better than their '16 class - I thought that should be your 'bet' with Talent; top 10 isn't a high enough barometer.

M imo is in great shape to land a top 5 class, some really good talent in-state so M won't need to rely so heavily on pulling kids from Florida, Texas, California, Georgia, etc. M should have an excellent season too so they can make a strong push on the blue chippers that decide late. M has momentum with their bowl win and thanks to Harbaugh their 'brand' is viewed as elite even though they probably need another 10+ win season for their 'brand' to be where it needs to be.
