          • Sam Webb has been saying for some time now that Michigan's interest in O'Brien cooled. He probably goes to Tennessee.

              • I think that's accurate Seattle ..... the vibe at Rivals is that Hoke only wants guys who WANT to be at Michigan. When he gets a sense a guy isn't on that level, interest on M's part declines. Not a hit on Obrien's potential. He's a talented kid and he'd be a nice addtion to the class but Hoke can now afford to shop for the right combination of talent and desire to wear the Winged helmet.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I'm not following your meaning. Grades? It sounded to me like they lost interest in him because they felt there were more pressing needs. Or maybe what JB said.

                  Anyway, he chose the Vols...

                  • The second one Rock. Webb says they are happy with DTs and would rather use the scholly on a WR or RB. So they said thanks but we are all full up.

My guess is it's more like a combo. They like what they got and oBrien wanted to be chased a little harder so UMich said nah. And he said nah. And UT land is happy.

                    Best of luck to him!

                    • All along I had the feeling he thought he could always go to Michigan if he wanted to. It seemed that he kept playing them until Hoke said "take your time"...which may have meant we aren't going to beg you to come. You either want Michigan or you don't.

                      • There was ALWAYS a question of whether there was a spot available for O'Brien, I don't think there was after Wormley & Pipkens took his spot.

                        • They've indicated they didn't intend to take another DT for some time.

                          • Yes, but I remember O'Brien saying he thought they would take two, though they said there was only one spot available before Pipkins committed. That's why I thought he felt secure in a spot available for him.

                            • Out of curiosity ... once a recruit has an offer in hand, he can still commit even if the school doesn't really want him or is "full" right?

                              • I don't know, but my question would be what constitutes an offer? Is something signed?
