To their great detriment. Baalke's ego and York's ineptitude made that decision.

    • HARBAUGH!!!! had run his course at SF. His defense, which made the team great, was on the down slope. And it still is. There was zero way they were making the playoffs this year...with HARBAUGH!!! Lombardi, Bellichek or anyone else.

In any event, if you want some perspective go back to roughly page 470 of this thread and start reading. Fantastic stuff including hearty endorsement of nonsense subtweet.

Incidentally, my favorite comments were generally, "look at that tweet!....our coach has a spine!...no more walkover wins for OSU!".... (starting in 2016, I guess)....

Buchanan put it best last year -- and I don't think I've ever uttered anything close to that phrase -- it's largely irrelevant, but I enjoy sassing about it (re Weber/OSU)...

Tomasula was better? Chip Kelly? Good luck with that.

Bill Belichick does, too. Oh, and his players seem to like him.

Yeah, I doubt it. I also doubt you believe SF would have made the playoffs this year (or had a winning record) with HARBAUGH!!!!! You know the NFL well enough. You know how the Niners were built. You know where they are now. I think HARBAUGH!!!! would have had the challenge of rebuilding a team, and that's tough. And that's really hard. Even the long-term coaches don't have a huge rebuild because they have a QB in place...Bellichek has always had Brady; Tomlin-Ben; even John Harbaugh has Flacco. Kapernick isn't that guy, IMO.

The last coach to put together winning teams around multiple different QBs was Bill Cower. He won with O'Donnell, Fucking Kordel Stewert, Tommy Gun Maddox and Big Ben as a rookie/2nd season.....unbelievable, really....

...now, that's a real digression, and I apologize...

May be the best run organization in sports, not a bad place to start. Even though his point still usually sucks.

                          • Gary is not taking an official to Bama this weekend(great thing), but Clemson instead(no biggy). I believe HARBAUGH!! still has an in home with him as well. Would be one of the all timers if he went other than M on NSD.

                            • With 25 commits, I assume M has 5 more left for a whopping 30. Adding Gary, Lavert Hill, Chase Allen, Connor Murphy and Khaleke Hudson gets them up to 283.85 points.

I also assume Quinn Nordin is in the class (he adds roughly 0 to the total).

If they also add Asiasi and Boss, that puts them at 291.64 ... and 33 scholarships players in a Houston Nutt-sized class.

I assume if they Asiasi they won't take Allen. I also assume if the take Tagaloga that means they probably lose Elliot. So if 31 is the number, then this is their best conceivable class:

                              1. Gary
                              2. Asiasi
                              3. Tagaloga (Lose Elliot)
                              4. Nordin
                              5. Lavert Hill
                              6. Connor Murphy
                              7. Khaleke Hudson

                              That gives them 288.82.

As a point of reference, Hoke's 2012 class was 275.85 and his 2013 class was 289.15.

                              • Still a lot more mights. Might lose Hawkins and replace with Stewart. Might lose Ron Johnson. Might lose Dytarious Johnson. Maybe add EJ Price.
