  • Gary is already there, there doesn't need to be any pieces to fall into place.

    • Correct.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

      • While there is a great chance we pull in Gary, let's not put the cart before the horse.

        • Did HARBAUGH! just pick off a PSU recruit? Time for Lavert Hill and Quinn Nordin to follow suit... and give James Franklin the boot...

            Pffft

Gary is a silent commit and has been one for a long time. Plus HARBAUGH! doesn't use horse and buggies, he travels by true hover boards. The ones without wheels.

              • Good news.

                and on the Swenson front:

Another stupid NCAA rule. When a kid is bitter and lies, the coach ought to be able to reply. Care to take any bets on how many articles will be written about what Swenson's coach said?

                • Thanks Geezer, more of the facts coming out. Talent, was of course wrong and there is absolutely nothing to own.

Harbaugh and his coaching staff never actually met Swenson yet he still expected to land in Michigan? LOL

                  • “It didn’t just happen yesterday,” Mark Molinari said. “We got some red flags three weeks ago, just comments made from coach encouraging Erik to make all five official visits (to other schools). That was the first indication it wasn’t heading in the direction we thought it was going.”
That's actually exactly what Swenson said. He was told after the Citrus Bowl. So, ummm, wow. Everyone seems to agree he was dropped in January. Own it.

                    • I have read he was a told as far back as November

                      • More from Swenson's coach:
Mark Molinari, Swenson's prep coach at Downers Grove South in Illinois, says Michigan offensive line coach Tim Drevno called in early January to tell him that Swenson should take other official visits.

"Coach Drevno called and said 'we're going to encourage Erik to take his five visits,'" Molinari said Friday evening. "I asked him specifically 'Are you pulling his offer?' The answer was 'No, we just want to continue to feel each other out.' I said 'Coach, are you pulling his offer?' and the answer was no.

"He was never told (in the fall) that you're being re-evaluated. We wouldn't have put ourselves in this position (if he was). Erik didn't have any official visits to go on and he hadn't gone any because he hadn't planned on going anywhere but the University of Michigan."

On Friday, The Wolverine -- citing unnamed sources -- reported that Swenson and his family had been notified by Michigan's coaching staff that he should begin looking at other college destinations in November. The website also reported Michigan asked Swenson to attend a camp this summer at U-M for evaluation purposes, but Swenson "refused."

That's not accurate, according to Molinari.

Molinari says Swenson was not asked to attend any Michigan camp this summer and was not given any indication that his scholarship was in jeopardy until early January.

Swenson and Molinari attended the Michigan-Ohio State game Nov. 28. During that trip, Molinari says Swenson had contact with Drevno and was not given "any indication that this wasn't going to work out."
So, when Geezer asks: "Care to take any bets on how many articles will be written about what Swenson's coach said?"...

...well, his coach has been quoted, consistently, in a number of articles already. Seems really believable to me. I'm glad you believe him, too.

                        • Bottom line: The kid floated through his senior year and did not camp because he probably figured it could only hurt him. He expected Michigan to live up to a two-year old offer from a previous coaching staff while doing nothing to impress the new staff that the offer was warranted. Well kid, to quote Sinatra, "That's life!" I watched his film. He has really heavy feet, doesn't bend, and struggles at times to pancake players half his size. Of course, Stan will tell me that I don't know shit...

                          • Yeah, I'm not sure if he "floated" or just wasn't good enough. I'm not going to suggest the kid was lazy. It's more likely he hit his ceiling early.

In any event, the bottom line is that M felt Swenson was no longer a take and told him to take his OVs at the beginning of January.

                            • Just waiting for Dytarious Johnson and Rashad Weaver to decommit so that Michigan has more room for all these guys.
Nate Johnson too of course, which could hurt more. This class has so many WRs however...

                              • Look on the Strangelove Greenstein follow up, he actually has a timeline. Basically the Wolverine is talking out of both sides of its mouth. They were posting Swenson puff pieces in November about him recruiting other players. If there were indeed rumors you would think a hard hitting sports publication like that would ask the subject on those rumors.

Also, in that follow up he posts a tweet from a Michigan fan that he got, he said something, "whatever it takes, whatever the cost." That seems about right. Why do you guys care anyway? It's fairly obvious Swenson wasn't worth your time.
