I was really just joking and poking fun at the NCAA with my post. I was surprised/shocked when it drew a couple of serious responses. Can the NCAA really have a rule that would prohibit schools from keeping recruits on campus when obvious acts of god keep them from getting back home?

    • speaking of the NCAA, when will we learn whether the SEC/ACC petitions to end HARBAUGH's "Summer Swarms" were successful or not?

I would hope the B1G would be working behind the scenes to fight this.

I'd like to think that the NCAA would act with common sense in a situation like that, Mac, .. but then again, I've been around a long time, and I've seen the NCAA do a lot of very stupid things. I wouldn't want to bet my next paycheck that they'd act rationally.

Isn't there some sort of President's meeting, and/or AD's meeting coming up sometime soon? It seems like they have meetings in the spring or summer. I suppose they might discuss it then.

I don't see what either conference is bellyaching about. If they want to have their own "swarm" just do it. There's no rule against it.

Their real gripe is that Michigan is a national brand, and Harbaugh is a national figure. They don't want the competition holding clinics on their doorstep..

            • Maybe they're lazy and just don't want to do it. You have to admit Harbaugh has been pounding the pavement since he was hired. Prepping and coaching for the season is several jobs in itself.

Adding development camps all over the US is probably a daunting chore but Harbaugh is a machine.

              • And Saban is the one who should gripe the least. If he were to come to inner city Detroit, and hold a clinic for players at one of the local high schools, the place would be packed. He'd have top players from all over the region coming to see him.

                • Mbem-Bosse has committed...to playing until he thinks he can jump to the NFL. Doesn't seem like much of "team" attitude, but I guess thats the way it is today. It could change, I suppose. He only met Recruiter Harbaugh, not Drill Sgt Harbaugh or Squad Leader Harbaugh.

                  • Saban won't even recruit you unless you think you can play in the NFL. Alabama football is like Kentucky basketball. You're there under the premise that you're going to win games for Alabama and Alabama in turn is going to max out your NFL draft stock.

I don't see Harbaugh recruiting at that level yet but if he ever did that's just a part of being a perennial top-4 program. You're not recruiting students as much as you are mercenaries and they aren't coming to a school as much as they are prepping for the NFL.

                    • Yet almost all the draft eligible players at Bama (were talking early round talent) are coming back, even after winning a championship

The guys that we just picked up are ranked higher for their respective positions and they were being recruited by some good SEC schools. Especially Mbem-Bosse. His offer list is a really nice one.

                        • Just heard that Michigan can go as high as 30 in this class. Currently at 24, but I don't expect to keep Jordan Elliott or Nate Johnson. Going to be a hell of a roller coaster ride until NSD.

                          • You can probably count out Rashad Weaver and Dytarious Johnson among Elliot and Nate Johnson.

                            • Is it safe to say that Harbaugh's interview with Cowturd didn't hurt his ability to attract recruits to Michigan? Apparently Uche and Mbem-Bosse didn't read anything written by Teddy Greenstein lately either. ;)

                              • It is safe to say. As a few others have mentioned, Harbaugh is media savvy. No effect at all. Sam Webb reporting Dwumfour decommits from PSU and likely to commit to M. This is another piece of the Gary puzzle falling into place.
