Sean, I hope we can meet some time this fall. It sounds like your sister and my grandson are working in similar fields. His curriculum at Purdue was called “biological engineering” and was under the supervision of the chemical engineering dept. Now he is at Northwestern and we have talked about getting together for the M-NU game if we can find some tickets and I can get free. I would love to get him to the borg tailgate if it materializes.

This whole shift in graduate education between practical and theoretical emphases is really interesting and I think it is indeed becoming widespread among many disciplines.
