The difference here, if I understand what is going on, is that M made good on the scholarship offer to Falcon. I don't think you'll see that in the SEC, under similar circumstances, or other places that shall remain unmentioned.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

That's not the difference. OSU, for example, offered Jamel Dean the same scholarship when they determined he couldn't play. SEC schools are all to happy to shift kids off the roster to those types of scholarship.
There are two differences. First, timing. M told him early enough in the process that he can, in theory, end up at another school. Although, Dean ended up at Auburn, so meh. Second, OSU (and others) are making the decision after their own doctors examined the kid. M basically said, eh, "torn ACL, see ya (and welcome Walker!")
JTB tore his ACL in his senior season. But he was good enough to bring in and redshirt. Matt Falcon's problem is that he was a borderline offer (surprise, surprise) that now has a torn ACL. He ain't good enough.
Now, M did exactly what the SEC does with Ondre Pipkins -- they wanted him off the roster -- so they asked him to sign a medical scholarship and he refused and transferred to TT.
I really wouldn't bother trying to explain this away or distinguish it....it's big boy recruiting. M is in it full on.Last edited by iam416; October 19, 2015, 12:56 PM.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

An honest statement from the kid, not making himself the victim. Glad the University made good on the scholarship-that makes all the difference. Matt Falcon can get a top-flight education for free, or he can try to play elsewhere. I suspect he will go elsewhere and play.
I wish Morris had been handled in the same manner. Not playing for an extended time makes a big difference.

I'll also say that IMO Jamel Dean got hosed. Now, he wound up at Auburn with a scholarship, so he's probably going be better off than Falcon (I don't think he'll get a comparable football offer). And there was some legitimacy to the injury issue. But at the end of the day what mattered most, IMO, is that he was utterly replaceable.
If Nick Bosa has the same leg issues I guarantee they'll do everything they can do to get him healthy and won't push him out.
Is what it is. Made my peace with it.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
