  • De'veon Smith, Drake Johnson, Ty Isaac, Ross-Taylor Douglas, Derrick Green, Karan Higdon, Falcon, Enis, and Walker. Kingston Davis will be FB I'm guessing..

That's a lot of RBs potentially for next season.
Michigan needs a DT or two.

    • Enis won't be a running back either. Falcon might not even end up in the class. Ross Douglas will never see the field.

      • Falcon? Is he looking elsewhere or would he be asked to look?

        • Due to injury he has only played something like eight games in his final three years of high school.

          • In order to make room for the actual talent in the class, Harbaugh is going to have to lose some guys's phone numbers.

We have heard the arguments in favor of piling up 2* players before "the coaches know more than the rivals rankers, coaching them up is what matters, etc". There are flaws in these arguments, not the least of which is the citing of isolated examples of 2* guys and walk-ons becoming star players. But for every Ryan Glasgow there have been 100+ Brian Cleary types. And maybe Dytarious Johnson really is an ultra sleeper, but it is much more likely that he is the mean of every other 2* prospect with a crap offer list. Most of those guys aren't sleepers. They just aren't good football players. Just ask Carvin Johnson, Greg Brown, Tamani Carter, Brandon Herron, etc. Right now Habaugh is dominating with highly experienced 4* players, mixed in with some highly experienced players who were high 3* prospects with respectable offer lists (e.g. Braden, Wormley).

And I'm fine with not trusting the rankings more than the coachers. But what about the opinions of other coaches? Haven't Charlie Strong, Les Miles, Bret Bielema, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly, Gus Malzahn, and Will Muschamp all proven themselves on at least one side of the ball, if not both? Harbaugh's offers to 2* and low 3* guys don't just defy the guru rankings, but the opinions of other successful coaches as well. Harbaugh is an outlier in thinking that about a half dozen guys in the class belong at a Power 5 conference contender. McKeon is probably the only guy on the list whose ranking doesn't match the offer list.

While your complaints are justified in the most part, aren't they ill-timed? JH gotten M back 10 short months. He's gotten them to the point where they're the favorite to win the East and have a very credible shot at making the CFP. He's gotten them back to where "The Game" will now actually be "The Game" instead of a walkover. He's recruiting really well and that should only improve.

Surely you can enjoy the arc of the M program and let a couple questionable offers slide.

              • I thought Falcon received his official offer less than a month ago. ?
At least on Twitter, that's what Falcon said.

That would be after he got injured this season.

                    • It was only a matter of time before M was back to being good. Unlike some here, I always viewed M as one competent hire away. It's a blueblood program, man. M's fantastic incompetence over the past 8 years is far, far, far more stunning than their resurgence this season.

                      • The on-field success this year hasn't changed my view of the recruiting class. What will change it is if the on-field success manages to flip a guy like Walker, bring in a couple of guys like Kelly or Gary who were considered long shots, and kickstart a 2017 class that dominates the state of Michigan.

Yes. It looks like even with all those underwhelming committs earlier in the year that Michigan's in shape to do this. I agree with the position of many on this board that a win Saturday speeds up the schedule with recruiting and avoids a multi-year talent gap vis-a-vis Ohio State. I don't think that makes this game a must-win and I think MSU has a lot more to lose than M, but I agree that a win for Michigan, followed by at the very least only one loss the rest of the way, and Harbaugh is off to the races in the next recruiting cycle.

                          • Any scuttle on Kelly? He's came and went and is still considered an Oklahoma lean. One loss against Texas probably won't change that. I wonder if there are any more USC guys that can be poached.

Committed way back then, but received an official offer in September.

Not anymore. This year we are the better team. Or at the very least, we have played like it so far We need to win. Desperately. Or else the narrative that Dantonio pwns us and the state of Michigan continues.
