That graph only covers 2 yeas of JH @ Stanford and 3 years of Shaw. It also includes Ohio State's unfortunate Year of Fickell. I reckon OSU would be in the "gray" under UFM.
But what that chart mostly shows is a strong correlation of results to recruiting. Duh.

M under Harbaugh should join Bama, LSU, Ohio, Florida State, USCar, Oklahoma, etc in the top right square. It might take longer than some hope but he'll get M there.
Since a slew of transfers are on their way and that number could still rise, I figure I'd post this since Michigan has already appeared to set a record for transfers welcomed in a single year with 4. My source for this is the Bentley football roster database. This is a list of every documented Michigan incoming transfer. I say documented because it is possible that guys transferred here in the late 19th century and early 20th century and it just wasn't listed that they transffered. There are some really impressive names on this list that you might recognize. Player Pos. I don't know the source of the smoke other than M is actively recruiting him. If there is truth to the rumors, I think one day he'll just commit to the Wolverines.
The reigning MLive Ann Arbor News Offensive Player of the Year joining teammate and fellow walk-on Chris Terech with guaranteed spot in Wolverines’ fall camp.
This is the kind of kid that places the importance of his education on an equal footing with playing sports. They go together for this kind of guy.
I wouldn't say M "prefers" these kinds of kids but it's not going to push them to the back of the line either. I'm not really sure I know if there are no limits to how many players the team can actually have. Obviously there is the 85 scholarship limit but walk-ons???? Maybe someone else with knowledge of this can comment.
IMO, these kids playing football and basketball should get lots of press and clearly they don't. This is the true college athlete . Instead, different kinds of kids are hyped by the sports press and usually these aren't the kids going to college to actually get an education ...... in the transition to big time college sports, we've kind of lost sight of that.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
There is no limit on non-scholarship kids. Most teams limit walk-ons because they don't want to manage 150 kids and they want to make sure no one is going to get killed. If the kid is any good he'll probably earn a year's scholarship here or there if M drops under the 85 limit, which they almost certainly will.
I'll also add that the vast majority of athletes playing D1 sports fit exactly this mold. It's a sport they love but they know their bread will never be buttered by it.

Nice that he picked M despite having apparently strong interest from at least one ivy league school. Not sure the article states whether or not that "interest' involved a scholarship. If a scholarship was involved, it's perhaps more amazing that the kid would forego the ivy league offer and a more realistic chance to get on the playing field, to walk on at M and pay the big bucks for a lot more playing uncertainty. Of course family economics are probably reflected in his decision. But, certainly the student portion of the student/athlete seems emphasized as well as this kid's love for Michigan. Wish him the best of luck on and off the field.

I would assume you are correct.
My point is the press doesn't cover these guys. Instead they cover the flashy, maybe, 10%.
It's like local news. Despite the fact that there are some real important and newsworthy issues, nevertheless, what makes the three lead stories on the nightly news are the poor guy that got shot last night, the cabbie that got robbed or the huge fire on "Main Street".
Is ESPN doing a story on this guy? Never mind.

Brian at mgblog did this week's "Thursday Recrutin" article.
Just up. The best of classic Brian when he's engaged and on. A must read whereas I'd never say that about Ace. Too bad.

I'm not sure you're correct on any of your points. I watched Rudy.. I know how this works
F#*K OHIO!!!
You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.
Harbaugh just accepted a commitment from a sophomore backup who has one career high school catch. And here I was thinking that RichRod had sent out some questionable early offers.
Yeah that seems crazy. He's supposed to have a reputation as an incredible talent evaluator, but this just seems unnecessarily risky. I'm still very firmly in wait and see mode, but I wouldn't say that I feel good about the way recruiting has gone so far.
