What characterizes the Michigan fanbase more is the pompous self-righteousness that, whatever else, Michigan will always do the "right thing", and that every true Michigan Man cares about that far more than mere victories.

Considering how much time here is devoted to discussing Devin Gardner's chemistry grades and sonnet-composing abilities versus his throwin' skillz, I have my suspicions on how true this is...but you all do put up a good show about it.

Just a thought ........ internet personas are wildly different than the real person, live and face to face, well, most of the time.

I've actually tail-gated with talent and his family in c-bus. He's quite a nice fellow ..... in person. So is his family although I did not get to meet his wife, a UofM grad by the way. Still trying to get him to AA. This might be the year. Whatever, he is a passionate osu fan and incredibly well informed historian. I respect that.

I've been here since the World Crossing days and so has talent. I hung around (mostly watching) a bunch of other football forums where he posted under various monikers. So, I know his internet persona well. If you want to engage him at any level, you better (a) have your facts in hand before you post (b) be prepared for some wicked repartee.

It's pretty obvious he doesn't tolerate any unfounded criticism of osu and you'll get hammered if you do it. Truth be known, a good deal of the shit we try to make stick on the wall about osu, the coaches, their culture, etc. won't stick because a lot of it, not all of it, isn't true when you get right down to it.

After a round of pitiless repartee here that got pretty ugly, talent left after a threatened ban ..... for a while. But he likes it here. Why? Because this is an intelligent bunch who knows football albeit we are from that school up North, which makes it all the more fun.

At one point during this fracas I suggested repartee in this particular forum can be a lot like an 18th century duel between gentlemen. The crowd assembles to watch this thing, you get up there, prepare your pistol and then for the ladies sake who are watching, you aim, fire and carefully wiz your pistol ball past the opponents ear .... just so he can hear it clear his head by a few inches. You don't put it between the other gentlemen's eye balls. Honor has been defended. Carry on. OTH, talent, facing you in a duel, does prefer to leave you in a bloody heap with a gaping hole in the back of your head, your brains spilt out of your gourd upon the dirt you fell on. Beware!

Anyway, talent is good guy for an osu fan, probably a damn good lawyer who I would not want to face in a courtroom and knows a shit ton about football, football recruiting and the like. He can be a dick, does not tolerate fools and will point out to you any glaring (or tiny) error in your facts or logic ...... which some, not those here usually, will take offense at.

I agree with Jeff.

Talent adds far more than he hurts. His predictions are at least as accurate as anyone's on this Forum, and he knows a lot about recruiting.

Besides, bantering with us (and losing $ 350/hr or so as a lawyer), indicates the high esteem in which he holds us.

Or his lack of clients, whichever.

Seriously though normally the guy's a bit more graceful about things, but not this time. Looks like he is feeling the footsteps. If I were him I'd have no shortage of ways to celebrate what just happened and none of them would involve losing my cool on a rival's forum and who the fuck cares because they have Meyer and an culture conducive to winning in whatever way possible, but hey whatever. Not my problem if he wants to be here, or DSL. Both of them know the routine -- Michigan's program has a set of values and many of Michigan's fans like that. I'm sure it's no fun to be on the other side of a Michigan fan in these moments, but if they want to be as dirty as they are they'll get what's coming to them in these settings and that's their problem, not ours.
