  • Wilcher isn't gonna suffer whereas OSU very well could. Wilcher doesn't seem like he has a bridge to burn. OSU seems like it loses out here more than Wilcher does.
CT maybe produces 1 OSU-quality player a year. And they have a coach who will do everything he can to get that kid to M.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

    • This will be a hilarious 2 pages or so if Weber doesn't flip. Heh. The silliest, craziest day of the year in recruiting.

I really shouldn't post rumors/meltdown mode from message boards until there's something concrete to it.

Re: Alibi -- it's also possible it's a double CT screwjob. He likes Miami and such. Perhaps Wilcher has managed to push him there. I mean, I might as well go all-in conspiracy nonsense, right!

      • Right. Sure. Again, my opinion is that unless he turns out a lot better than his highlights, Weber's 15 minutes of fame are right now. He's not going to end up a star in either place. But, still -- CT doesn't lose in this scenario. OSU loses, even if in truth that number is 2 or 3 players. It doesn't lose much, but loss is loss and maybe taking the high road just seems smarter.

If that's true about Weber not being honest with Meyer, well, yeah. Big boy stuff. Perhaps that's what a Michigan commit SHOULD do in that scenario.

I don't have a problem with Weber hosing UFM - I mean, it'll make him really easy to root against, but on general principle, it's law of the jungle. This drama -- if there is one -- still pales in comparison to SEC West shit.

I like Weber better than you. I think he'd do well at OSU. But, hey, he could end up being Brionte Dunn.

          • Which goes to show -- why burn your bridges? Kalis, Dunn, Thomas -- none of these recruit proxy wars have really changed anything at all on the ground in reality. Stay cool and keep smiling, right?

            • Hey, man, that's my motto. I'll never burn a bridge. I don't think UFM will, either.

OSU is going to win whether they ever sign another CT player or not. Hell, so will M.

              • I bet that's the way it happens -- no bridges burned. Unless what's really going on is a way to get out of the Alabi commitment, and they feel that there's not much to lose burning that bridge. You'll need some attrition to avoid oversigning, no?

                • FYI, this from Jeremy Birmingham (11W guy) who rarely overstates shit. I have no clue how good his sources are:

I was told tonight that if Weber were to flip to Michigan that "the kid is the next Denzel Washington" because of how well he's 'acted' like there was nothing to worry about between he and the Buckeye. Ohio State will wake up tomorrow believing Weber signs with them unless something happens tonight in the wee hours to change it.

They'll be over 85 (yay, 85 again!) but I'm sure they already know who is leaving. I think they may be 3 or 4 over, and that's fairly standard attrition for any program.

Alabi won't be without a home tomorrow. It'll be OSU or Miami. He'll be fine. And it may that he is dropping UFM. Who know?

                    • Thanks for the intel. It certainly is clear that if anything is going on its deep undercover.

                      • It sounds like Wilcher being Wilcher.

                        • The Scout Insiders all say M (and that's where the Alabi meltdown is occurring). Glad I pay $9.99 to read that nonsense!

The Rivals guys all say OSU. 11W says OSU.

The Scout guys have sources in Michigan. Rivals and 11W are basing their belief on sources at OSU -- i.e., Weber is telling them he's signing.

So, there you go. That's why I say if he flips it's absolutely intentional in the way he did it.

                            • He's bled green a lot more in the last 7 years. Wilcher was doing damage control on the radio the Monday after Weber had decommited. He was the one who decommited during a Michigan game , right?

                              • Another from 11W:

I don't think the Buckeyes are going to know about Alabi before they know about Weber; what I know is that they're not forcing Alabi out at this point, for sure.
