  • LOL. Basketball results don't effect football recruiting. There is nothing positive for M in Harris visiting Ohio State to hang out with UFM and tweeting "O-H-I-O" and pictures of the game. Nothing.

Harris plans to attend the M-Wisky game this weekend.

Right now, it's OSU, M and UK, and if I had to pick a favorite, it wouldn't be M.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

    • To the non-recruiting discussion, I really like that Tigers example, Rob. That is the question M faces with Hoke (and UNL with Pelini) -- what's the alternative. The known quantity won't WIN, but what will the unknown do.

Otherwise, Buchanan and I are in rare agreement. I certainly don't have the insight to explain my perception of M at the level he does, but the overall assessment is the same. Interesting stuff.

      • I have no idea. But I just like that he was there to see you get punked, and I do think the basketball team is a good example of what happens when Michigan applies its Michigan principles without being all post-Michigan Man about it.

        • Yeah, Harris picked the one single only day in the past 10 years he could have seen M win a basketball or football game in Columbus.

I wonder if he'll visit Columbus for the Michigan game in the sport, you know, he plays. Heh heh heh.

          • Depends on how corruptible he is, I suppose.

I'm going to move this discussion to the Off Season Thread ......
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I heard her on the radio (105.1 FM) a day or two before signing day. She didn't get into specifics about what turned her off to sparty but it sounded like she was treated rudely. She also said the only reason Malik would give as to why he'd want to go to spartie is "Comfort" and that there should be more to making a decision than that. She didn't sound (to me) like she was shopping her son to the highest bidder either.

                • What do you expect her to say on the radio? "$50,000.00 just don't cut it when Cam Newton's daddy can sell his ass for $400.000"? "Chris Webber went for over $200.00.00 and that ain't in 2014 dollars"?

                  • Recruiting needs for '15:

*Quarterback: 1 - Wise to take one in every single class.
*Running back: 2 - Didn't take one in '14, one elite maybe enough but without Harris committed, you probably need two...
*Receiver: 2 - Maybe just one, they've recruited this position heavy the past few classes after it being under-recruited.
*Tight end: 1 - Like QB, they should take one in every class.
*OL: 3 - Just two in '14 so they'll need at minimum 3, being a small class stops them from taking a 4th.

*Defensive line: 3 - After missing it's top targets in '14, they need some top talent here.
*Linebacker: 2 - Signed 3-4 in '14 though I Furbush could end up on the line, need here is minimal.
*Defensive back: 3 - M signed just 2 in '14, one of whom certainly won't redshirt; 2 of those spots are taken.
                    *Kicker: 1 - Already committed.

Projected class size of 18, attrition could but likely won't affect these numbers as they are more based on the previous class or two, than where attrition usually hits: juniors falling behind sophomores & freshman on the 2-deep.

                    • Somewhat big recruiting weekend, unofficial junior day (they all are) coinciding with the basketball game vs Sparty. Hoke prefers to have several junior days including the spring game; which is the biggest junior day event.

Notable visitors in the '15 class: Shaun Crawford CB (commit), Tyree Kinnel S (commit), Damian Harris RB, Brian Cole DB/WR, Tyriq Thompson LB/SS (I think he grows into a LB), Mike Weber RB & Darrin Kirkland ILB (no offer, could get one if Hilliard starts looking more like a long shot)...

                      • Brining them to that game sure went well with the outcome. Hopefully Harris had some fun and flips back
                        F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

                        • Basketball games matter not for football recruits.

I'd be surprised if Harris decides any time soon, and I'd be surprised if flips back to M. Though, his situation is such that a flip back is still possible -- typically I'd say virtually no chance. As in M has virtually no chance with George Campbell.

                          • Harris is genuinely a M fan, M has a shot. Campbell, unfortunately I agree.

                            • Definitely agree M has a shot with Harris. But, like I said, if I had to pick M or Not M, I'd pick the latter for Harris. But, I've been wrong numerous times and will be wrong many more times.

                              • Yesterday made six months without a single football commit.

                                Six.

                                Months.
