  • Put another way, as SLF noted, OSU has been rated slightly higher than M by every recruiting site the past two years. M has whipped OSU and probably everyone else in OL recruiting. OSU has to be doing something right in just about every other position group to rate higher. They aren't doing it on numbers (same in 2012; M signed 3 more last year).

But, TBH, it's not an OSU/M issue. It's far more an OSU/M rest of the B10 issue. I don't think OSU or M would trade classes with anyone, including each other, and I think every other B10 team would sell both their kidneys to get either one's classes. And that talent gulf is what we'll see in 2-3 years if not sooner.

    • Does OSU not want Nicholson?

      Comment

      • I honestly don't know. This is my sense. They have limited DB spots. Webb and Lattimore will take 2. Maybe 1 or 2 left. They view Nicholson as Plan B/fungible. They're probably still "recruiting" him but it's probably obvious he isn't their first choice. I think whatever initial "love" he had for OSU has probably faded. Best I can do from reading premium forums.

I would be surprised if he ends up at OSU.

*EDIT -- completely forgot about Erick Smith. They like him better and will take him as a S. Then it's probably a matter of chasing an elite kid like Juju Smith or Tony Brown, both longshots. So, yeah, they prefer Smith over Nicholson.

          • I'm just glad that the Rich Rod recruiting methods are a thing of the past. Beating WMU and Bowling Green for athletes is not going to win anything in the B1G.

But...but...but...the RichRod apologists said it was Lloyd's fault for "leaving the cupboard bare". So you mean to say that it was RichRod's fault? My gosh, I feel so gullible!

              • It's quite possible both were responsible for the lack of talent in '08, '09, '10.

                • I agree, WM. Lloyd's usually stellar recruiting fell off in his last two seasons and RRod's methods only made a bad situation worse.

On the other hand, Brady Hoke has come in and recruited 2 straight Top 10 classes, and is on his way to #3.

                          • I seem to recall RRod's first recruiting class (the snake oil class) was pretty good in terms of "Stars" power... but they were not pro prospect recruits. Of course the previous coaching staff did a lousy job of developing the talent.

                            • Adoree Jackson tweeted "Michigan Team 135 ? #GoBlue"

He's just trying to get a rise from fans, though the Commish is apparently recruiting him hard (in addition to Hand).

As far as I know, unlike JuJu, Adoree has not planned an OV to M, so I am not buying it .... would be sweet to have a Jackson and Peppers defensive backfield.

                              • Adoree Jackson (5*, Cali but originally from Illinois) wants to make it to the BBQ. He and Peppers talked of playing for the same team. Sounds like he's got enough interest to make my recruiting board... Would be a great sign if he can make it to the BBQ all the way from Cali.

Chase Winovich LB (3-4 star, Pennsylvania) recruitment seems to be heading Pitt's direction, the home school. Nyles Morgan LB is as good of a talent and in some peoples eyes, better if M can get his interest again...

Peppers doing his best to recruit for M, hopefully he's successful in luring other top 150 type talent to AA if not top 25 type recruits like Hand and Adoree.
