    • I just watched some of Peppers' video. Not sure why I hadn't watched any until now. Maybe I didn't want to get my hopes up.

My impression is not only can this kid be a lockdown corner, he is just a fine overall football PLAYER. His HS runs him at RB, QB, and on defense. He plays all the positions well. He has tremendous speed, and looks like a Division 1 player already, even though he will just be starting his SR year in the fall.

It would be nice if Hoke and Mattison could keep recruiting on this level. They need to get a handful of these types of players every year, to get the program back to where we all want to see it.

      • As you watch those, they are all the more impressive if you remember he is already 6'1 and 205 lbs.

        • Exceptional athlete, he'll be able to return punts, kick-offs and play special teams if needed. Yet raw at his likely college position, cornerback which is the only negative. Athletic and has enough size to play anywhere in the defensive backfield along with any skill position on offense...

Hopefully his commitment helps lure other top talent to Michigan.

          • I hope we can keep him on the roster more than two years. The NFL is going to be an option for him right after his sophomore year.

              • WM:

Are there any other players that might quit the team? Good timing of the announcement; but only 8 or so places left. If I were Hand, I'd want to play with Peppers.

                • I thought NFL couldn't touch kids until they were 3 years removed from high school?

                    • re: attrition

There might be some 5th year guys not asked to return, that would open up room for a larger class. Even then, I don't expect a large class, 19 members is about what I'd project and that is counting on normal attrition.

Any chance he stays on offense?

                        • He wants to play defense and he's needed in the defensive backfield, he's going to start at cornerback.

                          • I thought players could opt for the NFL after 2 years.

If its 3, then that means we get him for 3. Its better than only having him for 2.

Like WM posted, everything I'm reading says he will be a DB. Seeing a lot of internet chatter that he'll be given the opportunity to return punts and/or kickoffs, besides getting some plays on offense if he earns them.
