Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Just Googled it. ESPN has a story quoting Hoke in Nov. that a redshirt was applied for for Gardner. It's googled, it must be true.
Seriously, no reason to doubt a Hoke statement but maybe he knows something about the approval process and how it's going that we don't. I still think this weird ass deal for Speight signals a low likelihood, I'll call it then, that Garder has more than one year left.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. They've been clear all along they only want 1 QB in this class and the only QB they offered was Speight. Concerns me too considering some of the elite '14 QB's were very interested (a lot of peoples #1/#2 QB, Cornwell's tweets sound like he was really expecting a M offer) and they took someone with nowhere near the 'rep' of other options... Shane Morris & Devin Gardner allow me to not be too worried about this decision but we'll see if the coaches were right on this one.

So, then Borges has recruited and signed a mid-level prospect at QB for the 2014 class. They will not take another QB in that 2014 class. That's pretty scary.
Scenario (1): Borges is a genius. Gardner excels in 2013 and gets a redshirt senior season. Morris redshirts in 2013. Competition at QB heats up, Morris beats out DG in 2014 and is as good as advertised, 2014-2017. Speight is a perfect fit in the emerging Borges offense and is developed into a Joe Flacco type to run it in 2018 and beyond.
Scenario (2): Borges is Borges. Gardner struggles/doesn't get a redshirt senior season in 2014, Morris loses his redshirt by playing and is not as good as advertised/Borges is not that great in developing QBs. Speight is John Navvarian or David Conian, doesn't really develop into anything special and M settles in at mediocrity for a decade (again).
You choose based on your view of the probability of reality being behind door number 1 or 2.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. “Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan even though I’m going (to Michigan). When we play (OSU) I’m gonna still bring my ‘A’ game. But, I love Ohio State.” -- Reon DawsonDan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
