Hmmm. Well, if he was hand-picked by Borges, he's probably pretty good.

This is a sticky topic.

I'm getting pretty skeptical of Borges. College football coaches have three jobs. 1) recruiting 2) x's and o's 3) player development.
I don't think anyone thinks Borges is a top recruiter, and I have yet to see much which would change that opinion. I've also not seen a great deal of player development, in fact I have trouble naming one player better last year than the year prior. His x's and o's are debatable perhaps, but even if they were exceptional, i don't know that it makes up for his deficiencies in other areas.
I guess what I am saying is that he is hardly better than Greg Robinson, and not a top 10-20 Offensive Coordinator nationally. To be a professional means that you don't die. - Takeru "the Tsunami" Kobayashi

Borges definitely not an A+ coordinator. I think that he's a Ron English caliber coordinator. He's going to have a few good games a year and he's going to get pantsed at least a few times a year. He's never going to come up with a game plan for shredding a great defense. I really hope that this QB from Virginia is legit. Wish we would have at least taken a plan B guy in 2012.

Here's a not very glowing scouting report for the QB from Virginia from Touch the Banner...
The 6'6", 217-pounder has no offers at this time. Speight might be the sleeper of the group. I like the way he throws the ball under pressure. Sometimes it's unbelievable how accurate he is with guys in his face, but to be honest, it seems like he's in a habit of throwing off his back foot because of a porous offensive line. He barely has a chance to breathe before two or three defenders are in his face. He's a little too stiff in the pocket for my liking and will struggle to avoid college rushers; he lacks great arm strength and has a little bit of a hitch in his delivery. He just looks very unpolished. I could see him going somewhere like Texas Tech or Washington State and lighting it up a few years down the road, but I don't think he's a good fit for Michigan.
Meh. Maybe we are taking two QBs this year?

In a few years it's going to be very interesting to watch The Game when Michigan has the ball. Our O-line v.s. their D-line. Schmucks are putting together a really good defense. Michigan needs some receivers that can stretch the field.Last edited by Rocky Bleier; February 6, 2013, 11:32 AM.I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
