He went with a friend who is being recruited by Saban.
And Saban (or any college coach) would never allow someone to come on an official visit, especially the stature of Poggi, .. without giving him the sales pitch. Dad with him or not ...."in order to lead America you must love America"

Class of '13 is likely finished, Poggi is important but not overly critical to keep in this class. He'd be a big loss... With a hard limit of 28 in the B10, M has just one scholarship it could offer; they might land a last minute addition to the class like they did with Norfleet last year... Regardless, it's an excellent class (much needed imo after '10/'11) and improves the talent on the roster dramatically even if it's a couple years before the '12/'13 classes really make a significant impact on the field...
I'll be ready to look at '14 recruits more closely just after signing day and update the '14 recruiting board accordingly.

MGoBlog, latest on Poggi.
Speaking of Poggi, multiple outlets have confirmed that he did visit Alabama last weekend, and the Tide are actively recruiting him. While the exact nature of the visit is unclear—some say it was a visit to a friend on the team while others say that he took an official, and the Poggis are staying quiet—the general sense from insiders is that he'll still end up at Michigan in the end.?I don?t take vacations. I don?t get sick. I don?t observe major holidays. I?m a jackhammer.?

..... True. I can see the benefit of a tough approach to these kids but only in the current f'ed up system that the NCAA has fashioned with their unreasonable and antiquated recruiting rules.
As long as the current system allows kids (mostly handlers in the case of the top recruits) screw with coaches, I'm perfectly ok with the approach Hoke appears to be taking.
It's probably accurate though to have reasonable concerns with Hokes tough approach given the SEC's built in recruiting advantages. Personally, I have no problem with it.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
