  • One post over on Scout mentioning that Gareon Conley giving some indication about perhaps having committed too soon. Any truth to that rumor or it's implication(s)?

    • Some of them aren't going to wind up here, certainly. No idea which ones, myself...

      • That was the rumor a week or so ago on twitter (from Conley himself) but insiders have asked him about it and he's stated he's solid with M. Sounds like M still needs to recruit him to keep him.

        • Any news on recruiting?

Did Treadwell make the Air Force game? At least now I have a Pac 12 team I can root for. Arizona came back from a 14 point deficit to beat Okie State 59-34 (or something like that)

          • Treadwell didn't but only because he had to take the ACT that morning, which is a very long test.

            • May be a little off topic here but..... Are we burning more than our fair share of redshirts as of this time? If so, or even if not so, how does that impact the future, if at all. Will our recruiting have to be just that much better in 2014 and on so that we can fill the gap)s) that may occur if we lose an inordinate amount of good player to graduation? What if an extra player or two should happen to leave early for the NFL? Are we at all in danger of mortgaging the future to making something more of this season?

              • I think that we are burning a lot of redshirts this year compared to what we will be doing by 2014-2015 time frame. Most of them expected. The one exception is Royce Jenkins-Stone, who came in severely underweight. We had lots of immediate needs and an excellent class that addresses those immediate needs. Thus, they are getting on the field right away.

                • I think it's a good thing. Bring on the talent and endure the growing pains. Those kids should be ready. By the time we head to Oohi some of the kids who are green now should be ready to perform. Pipkins for sure.

                  • We have been burning redshirts at what seems like an abnormal rate for a while now. Living hand-to-mouth, so to speak. I'm looking forward to finally getting a period of stability in a few years where we can just burn the redshirts on the stud skill players and DBs who are too good to keep off the field, and then we can go back to getting five years out of guys like Jarrett Irons and Jake Long.

                    • The cupboard of upperclass talent is pretty bare, these kids have to contribute immediately.

                      • There are big holes in the roster that require these freshman to play; two coaching changes in 4 years hurt the roster a great deal...

I don't like all the freshman on the field either but they are needed.

                        • FWIW: Take a look at the 2010 recruiting class. Jake Ryan and Gardner. We NEED the freshmen on the field particularly at the linebacker position. (we should not be turning away 4* linebacker prospects). If you look honestly at the AF game you can say that the class of 2012 contributed more to the win than the class of 2010.

And this can be turned into a positive. At Michigan, a young offensive lineman doesn't have a bunch of redshirts in front of him. With the pathetic play of the lines, I say play the freshmen and recruit more of the same. RR must have had a disdain for linemen is all I can say.

Speaking of which, Arizona is now on TV at about 11:00, and they beat Oklahoma State 59-36. Typical RR shootout. Also Wisconsin plays their first non-conference BCS away game since 2005 and gets beat by Oregon State. OL coach gets canned.

                          • The high school career of five-star Michigan football recruit Shane Morris might be over.
The Warren De La Salle quarterback who has committed to U-M has been diagnosed with mononucleosis. “He won’t play this week," said De La Salle coach Paul Verska. “And really, I’m not counting on him coming back the rest of the year."

                            • yikes ... DeLaSalle has one of the best teams in the state with Morris. I was hoping to see them play at Ford Field this year.

Oh well ... I guess we'll have to wait until he plays at the BH ...
