  • Is there a recruit in question here, or is that just in general?

    • it is folly to think one game will change a recruit's mind.
True, but it can start the balances tipping against you.

A lot of folks on the Rivals site on Sunday thought that Treadwell might be somewhat influenced by what he saw on Saturday. A bad Michigan loss, and a big Okie State win. But, the mods over there say that Treadwell is still seriously considering Michigan.

        • I hope that Treadwell sees that our only legitimate outside threat right now is a converted QB, and that he can start on day 1.

Boy it's a good thing that we didn't "waste" a scholarship on Devin Lucien or Tommy Schutt, isn't it? Jesus Christ, Hoke, what were you thinking?

          • I don't really understand why they didn't take Schutt, either. Maybe never a dominant player, but I think that kid has 3-year starter written all over him.

            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

            • Schutt is a mystery to everyone.

              • It's still not as perplexing as Bollman thinking Taylor Decker wasn't worth a scholarship and ignoring Dymonte Thomas. Jackass.

Anyway, the 2014 Ohio class is coming into focus a bit. Will have to update that in a few weeks.

                  • Or Jonathan Hankins.

                    • Schutt by all reports was a very good, smart kid. No character, academic issues. It had to be talent assessment or they were full yet they later added Willie Henry DT.

                      • Every visit by Treadwell is great news, he'll take an official here too but it sounds like he'll take his other four officials too.

Yeah. Peculiar move. If I had to guess, I'd say they thought they were full/wanted to hold a scholarship or two for top-shelf guys they were still in on. Then they lost out toward the end of recruiting season and had an open spot, wanted to add DL depth and Henry was there.

                          Or Jonathan Hankins.
The ironic thing about Hankins is that he was a total 3* player and RichGOD loved 3* players -- at least if they were smallish burners. Weird deal.

Re Treadwell -- I still can't see him going anywhere but M. Green, IMO, remains a less than probable outcome for M.

                          • With Green, if it's down to Michigan vs Auburn, forget it.

With Schutt, that makes the most sense. Maybe they just didn't like him as a player, but IIRC at the time they brought in Henry they were in the midst of losing out all those head-to-head recruiting battles.

                            • I saw Henry as a we have an extra scholly because we missed our main targets and we can get into Glenville.

                              • RichRod didn't like Hankins because he was too pudgy, so he slow played him. By the time that he changed his mind, it was too late.
