Indeed. I'm not sure how UFM is going to win with the pitiful talent he's bringing in.
Anywho, re Ferns, he was a definite Penn State lean, IMO. When the NCAA struck, M became the choice. OSU was never really in his plans. Such is life. I wouldn't be surprised if OSU ends up with 3 LBs that are higher rated than Ferns, so it sucks he goes to M, but probably won't be a loss for OSU.

Losing the #2 ranked player in the state of Ohio according to OhioPrep, hurts... especially to the Team Up North. Looks like Tressel's version of "Hadrian's Wall" is in disrepair.

Yep...and one of the few times the "sour grapes" analogy was used correctly. The phrase sour grapes comes from Aesop's fable "The Fox and the Grapes." It refers to pretending not to care for something one does not or cannot have. It does not mean being a sore loser.

I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
Obviously, every Ohio kid M gets is a huge steal and massive victory for Coach Hoke. UFM can't recruit. The talent-level he's bringing is in subpar with all of these devastating losses.
It will be interesting, though, to compare OSU's LB class for 2014 against Ferns, who is very good recruit even coming from the likes of St. Clairesville. But, what do I know.
TBH, though, Ferns may project to a rush end. He probably has tons more room to put on weight and maintain his speed. So, LB might not be the right comparison.
Also of note, Michael Ferns is M. 2014 LB out of Ohio. I don't think it's official anywhere, but it's done. Kid is very good and a good pull for Coach Hoke.
Marginal value, though, matters. Laremy Tunsil would be a tremendous pick up for anyone, including M -- probably the best OL in the class of 2013 -- but I guarantee you they'd rather get Treadwell or Green or several other players.
With OSU looking really good for 2 LBs that are potential top 25 national players (and are according to 247's grossly premature 2014 ratings), Ferns is mostly a loss because he went in-conference, not because he didn't choose OSU.
