  • I watched ESPN's review of the Elite 11, and no mention was made of Shane M. They must have named 7 players, particularly a verbal to Purdue and one to Ohio.
Is Morris at the Elite 11?

    • He was the top performer at it according to Farrell. ESPN sucks at covering recruiting.

        ESPN sucks. Period. Exclamation point!

          • Just heard the Penn State sanctions. Do they have any senior OL or DL players that are high quality? What of WR? Let's get in there and pick the bones.

            • I haven't paid attention to any specific linemen, but I really like Penn State's O line play the last few years. I'll bet that they have more than a few good ones that could contribute for Michigan.

              • Well, if we are discussing starting Kalis or Magnuson, let's get some veteran B10 players and close the Rodriquez lineman gap. I wonder what happens to Rob Bolden.

                  Didn't he already leave?

                  • So if Penn State players want to transfer to a school that is maxed out on schollies will they still be able to transfer? I imagine at this point, 6 weeks before the season, any major program will have used all their allotted scholarships. Might be tough for those guys to land somewhere this year.

From what I understand (from another thread's post), any PSU transfer would not count against the scholarship limit for, say M or any other D1 school, in this year's class.

Maybe WM can shed some light on this, though.

                      • My question, too, is will any transfers count against the 85 scholarship limit, or is that something that was waived along with the 1-year wait to play? All I've seen is some speculation somewhere yesterday that any transfers in to other Div.I programs would not count against that 85-man limit.

Not only that, but I'm a little leary about wholesale importation of players from another program and what it might do to the chemistry on the team. The guys already on-board that are working hard preparing to compete once fall practice starts need to be part of the equation being considered before flinging that door wide open. Think Wisconsin and their difficulty in recruiting top-flight high school QB's after establishing a pattern of accepting mercenary QB's and starting them over kids already in the program.

On the other hand, if there is clearly a need that can be patched up in the best interest of providing depth, then those needs have to be addressed, too as part of the process.

                        • Thanks. You'd figure there has to be some sort of exception made.

                          • No one is clear on how the transfers will work, including the NCAA. Heck, the B10 still has to approve intra-conference transfers w/o usual restrictions. My guess is all upper classmen will stay. And with Frosh/Sophs, you have to decide if you want them as a scholarship player b/c they will absolutely count against the limit next season.

                            • With the unprecedented punishments, I would think the NCAA should make an exception for any current Penn State player who wishes to transfer. Their scholly should not count at their new school for as long as they are there. And yes, I believe that should apply even if they want to transfer to a school in ohio.

I totally agree with what the NCAA did here. They are spot on with the punishments, and if the rest of college football hasn't paid attention so far, they better be paying attention now. I would hope that the school I love most, my beloved Michigan, has already been doing an internal investigation, just to be sure nothing similar is going on there. Any school that hasn't at least been doing some sort of internal investigation by now needs to have their heads examined.

                              • And, one other observation. After watching Lou Holtz's comments this morning, ... if he still has a job at ESPN at the end of today, his boss needs to be fired.

In his entire 3+minute tirade, he never once mentioned those kids. He spent his entire time talking about everything else, .. except those kids. And, of course, he thought the punishments were too harsh.

                                What a douche bag.
