  • This class continues to fizzle out...

    • Probably should just fold up the program at this point.

      • Silver lining is it leaves more room in the talent pipeline for the next running back target. Would have been nice but not a big deal imo.

        • Although I am clocked with a sundial, I'll play RB, pay my own way too.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect someone better than a middling 3* RB or WR in nearly two years now.

Hey, Morris can hand it off or throw to himself I guess.

I'd say it's close to four. The Vincent Smiths, Thomas Rawlses, and Drew Dilieos have been piling up like crazy since the middle of the RichRod years.

                • And you'd be correct. I was just referring to the Hoke era, where it's becoming increasingly concerning the inability to bring in top shelf skill players.

                  • While I'm very disappointed Isaac is going SC, there's still no reason to go into full meltdown. I'm saving that step in case we don't get Treadwell...

Besides, signing day is still 8 1/2 months away. We got some potentially decent-to-very-good skill players last year, and I'm not all that disappointed (yet) with the 2013 skill players we already got verbals from. We get double-digit wins and a B1G championship this season and a few more recruits will start paying attention. It takes more than a season to recover from the last several!

No need to hold our breath 'til we turn blue, as we're already that color anyway

                    • There is still plenty of time for Lane Kiffin to get USC embroiled in another of his scandals and for Isaac to be a Wolverine.

                      • We still have two more years of Toussaint (who I really like) and M is in pretty good shape with Derrick Green, whose a top 100 overall talent.. Mildly disappointed with the talent at running back in the last few classes but there is talent there that most teams other than M or OSU would be very happy with...

Dennis Norfleet, Justice Hayes & Deveon Smith all are 4-stars. Not a one is the complete package but M has talent there...

At WR, there isn't a lot of talent or numbers there ('10, '11 classes didn't produce much) but I like all four that they've brought in the last couple classes. Amara Darboh is a 4-star and Jehu Chesson would be if he were a lil' more polished, he started football quite late... It also wouldn't surprise me much if both of York and Dukes ended up as 4-stars in this class; both are getting rave reviews from their camp performances. M isn't finished at WR either, there are in excellent shape with Treadwell whose a potential 5-star.

                        • I don't think its a disaster either. Its a situation where you'd love to have a major talent like him, but if the program continues its turnaround, there will be others who will want to be here. Its only a matter of time. As someone mentioned upthread, it leaves open the possibility of a top RB in a future class, since there will be no major superstar ahead of them.

                          • I think there is perception bias here. When was the last time M recruited and landed a 5 star RB?

Michigan football has played among the elites by out working the rest of the B10, better coaching and good player development. How many years has M been great as measured by an undefeated season? One .... and even that team had its own share of luck, a very conservative offense that was backed up by a great D. Nothing to shout about.

The point is, if M had been loaded with 5* talent, like UA and USC have been or are now or cheated like osu (and USC for tht matter), it wouldn't even have been close. We'd be remembering undisputed B10 championships and MNCs.

That M doesn't get it on a regular basis, if much at all, is one of the reasons we're not remembering that kind of stuff.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

On point, though, UFM seems to have little interest in Green which is good news for M. But, they still have a lot of work to do.

                              • Also, I think it's silly to think that missing out on Isaac helps land a bigger guy down the road. Generally, that isn't how it works. But, if it is for a certain kid, you don't want him, IMO. Unless you want kids that are afraid of competition. USC, e.g., is probably going to add another top shelf RB to THIS class.
