  • Saban really needs to try the NFL again and play by the same rules as his competition. Bama was #1 (via Rivals) in recruiting in '08, '09, '11 & '12; in '10 they were with "only" 16 kids ranked as 4-stars or higher....

Not only does he have that much talent at his disposal, if one of the kids isn't panning out (likely future starter); he's basically booted off the team and replaced by another blue chipper...

Amazingly 2011 is the only year they've signed less than 25 recruits in a recruiting class; not sure how that is possible but Saban always finds a way to get to 85 scholarships come fall.

        • The disadvantage of having all of these early commits -- the rest of the cycle is going to be really boring.

That is very true. Plus, I was talking recruiting with a friend yesterday and I started getting the two recent classes mixed up! We were mixing up the LBs in the '12 and '13 classes. It's funny all the discussions we've had about the '13 class when the vast majority of the '12 class hasn't even arrived on campus!

              • I've seen a couple lists of this weekend's visitors, it includes at least a dozen 2013 verbal commits, and at least 3 potentially huge gets that are still available to add to the 2013 class: DL Joey Bosa, LB EJ Levenberry, and DB Kendall Fuller, all three of them (I believe) are either 4- or 5-star recruits, depending upon the recruiting service. The other 2013 names I've seen listed are a small handful of 3* kids, but one 4* of note that is supposedly likely to be in town is RB Derrick Green, isn't he one of ohio's top RB targets?

Besides that, there will be at least a half-dozen 2014 recruits and at least 1 2015 recruit on hand for the spring game

                • Sure would be nice to get some more commitments this weekend, but with only approximately 7 spots left, Hoke is likely to be very selective at this point. Bosa is a big time recruit but not very likely, while Fuller and Levenberry supposedly both have Michigan at or near the top of their lists---I really, really hope we can corral Levenberry this weekend; he spent a lot of time last week at FSU and it looks like they may have (only temporarily, I hope) pulled even with us in his recruitment.

Seeing we have 17 already on board for 2017, I'd be satisfied to get one more this weekend to commit, but 2 or more would be fantastic...

                  • Bosa is just taking a midwestern tour (also visiting Wisconsin and OSU), not likely M.

                    • Fuller just put M in his top 6. So there's a chance.

                      • He's (Fulller) the most likely kid I drop off my board, he continues to show interest in visiting but little more while he speaks much higher about VT, Clemson and others.
