  • I just get goosebumps everytime I read about this Shane Morris.

The road to becoming the nation's top quarterback begins Saturday in Arlington, Texas, when the first Elite 11 regional of the 2012 season takes place at Cowboys Stadium.

Now in its 14th year, Elite 11 is the nation's pre-eminent quarterback competition. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck and Tim Tebow are just some of the quarterbacks who've participated in the event.

The Dallas regional is the first of six Elite 11 regionals. Top performers in the regionals will earn a spot in the Elite 11 finals this July in California.

And there will be plenty of star power on hand in Dallas -- eight of the 31 signal-callers on the ESPNU 150 Watch List are scheduled to participate.

Leading the way is De La Salle (Warren, Mich.) star Shane Morris, who shined at last year's Elite 11 regional in Columbus, Ohio. A Michigan commit, Morris threw for 1,684 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for another six TDs as a junior.

    • He has a bright future. As long as he keeps a good head on his shoulders and avoids injury, he will have a fine career. I hope to go watch him at least once this upcoming season. I won't be officiating as much, so that will free up some of my Friday nights.

        • As I've expected, USC is certainly a threat with Isaac and imo the only threat. He's been very excited to take that visit despite some insiders believing he wouldn't leave the midwest.

          • Greg Webb DT (4*, New Jersey) is showing quite a bit of mutual interest; he's a top 100 overall recruit. Offers from PSU, Ohio, M, Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, etc...

Thought to be a B10 player; competition expected to come from PSU & Ohio...

Slow in recruiting news the last couple weeks but that should really pick up with the spring game/practice on the 14th. Who shows up for that will be telling and how interested kids are in M, and the reactions the insiders have after these visits will be even more so. For now, its a good idea to watch who is interested in visiting for the spring game, Greg Webb DT is one of those.

            • Ohio State "insiders" feel pretty good about Webb.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
              Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

                • WM, What do think about Placer, California's Eddie Vanderdoes, 5-Star (Scout) DT, apparently Michigan is pressing hard to land him? Realistic?

                  • Really, really like Vanderdoes. Deserving 5-star, will help wherever he goes early...

He's a California kid and a 5-star, he'll be a tough pull but seems very willing to leave Cali and the the west coast. I'm not getting my hope up for him until he shows a bit more interest; e.g. names M in his top 3.

                    • Rumors Eldridge Massington (4*, Texas) named M his leader. Good news if true; he's another big receiver; 6'3", 200+ lb's... Wont' have to worry about Texas as competition.

                      • Taco Charlton DE was nearly 'unblockable' at a recent camp in California. Getting pressure on the QB is his strength, so not a huge surprise by his success in a camp setting. People were quite impressed by his 'size', obviously he's added some good weight recently. Capable of playing WDE or SDE in the B10; if he continues to camp performances like these he could work his way to be a top 100 overall recruit...

Gareon Conley CB invited to Under Armour Game. He'll be one to watch if he goes to camps this summer, I don't think the recruiting services have seen much of him yet and after camps, he should be properly rated; whether that be a 3-star or a 4-star...

Joe Mathis is #1 on most everyones recruiting board, he's a freak of an athlete that is a deserving top 15 overall recruit. Thought to be a heavy USC lean, he's going to the camp in Detroit this weekend and will visit Ann Arbor while he's here too. Getting him on campus is huge and M should get a good idea if they have a chance after he visits.

                        • Greg Webb DT (strong 4-star) is probably DT #3 on my recruiting board, we'll find out where M stands after the spring game and whether he's a realistic option. Likely B10 bound; awhile ago thought to be a PSU vs Ohio battle but M is trying to get in that group and this visit gives them that chance...

Ty Isaac is looking at a late summer decision (August maybe), top 3 still is M, ND & USC... He's seen all three and none of them really separated themselves from the other two; Auburn is in there too supposedly. Was hoping one of Treadwell or Isaac could decide and pull the other to M; looks like both are holding out till later in the summer.
