  • Hoke wants his recruits to be accepted into M when they commit, he won't take someone that needs a strong senior year or a high ACT to get admitted.

      • But Hanni's probably right -- same admissions standards. So does that mean that the test scores have to be there in advance, or that there's a solid expectation that they can get the necessary score?

        Comment

        • Yes. Hoke isn't in a spot where he has to risk a scholarship spot on a risky qualifier.

Eh. When it comes to the top prospect in the state at a position of extreme need who will otherwise end up playing for your in-state rival, I have to disagree.

              • If he doesn't qualify, you just cut him loose and have a free scholarship? If that's the case, they why not take the risk?

                • As I understand it it is less about whether A guy is borderline, but the number of borderline guys.

                  • OK, sure. You don't want to take 4 or 5. But if it's one guy, he's a talent at a position of need, and you deny your instate rival, that's enough of an argument in favor, perhaps.

I looked for it but, not knowing which thread your comment was in, decided to come back here and ask you, Hanni.

I recently registered over on MGoBlog, but no posts yet---I doubt I'll ever be active there other than a very occasional post. But I've found myself going over there more often in the last year than ever before (I stayed away form their site, more-or-less, during the RRod reign of error---got fed up with so many apologists dominating most conversations), so I signed up just in case.

                            Michigan tweets might be issue

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan's football program might have violated an NCAA rule.
Spokesman Justin Dickens confirmed Wednesday that the school's compliance department has been notified a rule may have been broken by receiver Roy Roundtree and linebacker Kenny Demens.
The two posted messages on their Twitter accounts to congratulate a recruit.
Roundtree and Demens tweeted to linebacker Mike McCray of Trotwood-Madison High School in Ohio after the highly touted prospect decided to play for the Wolverines. NCAA rules prohibit messages being sent to recruits through social media from accounts affiliated with someone from the school.
The NCAA declined comment. Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon did not immediately return a message.
Michigan put itself on two years of probation in May 2010 for four major violations related to practice and training rules under former coach Rich Rodriguez. The NCAA added a third year of probation.
