  • I don't think it was a junior day was it? Fox and LTT weren't even on campus I don't think.

    • Yes, it was a junior day and no LTT & Fox weren't on campus and phoned in their verbals to secure their spots on the OL which were going fast...

4-5 years ago, most schools had 1 big junior day event in addition to the spring game. Trend is more and more 'junior' days, believe last year M had 2 as did a lot of other schools...

There is nothing really 'special' or official about junior days, its just a weekend where they have a party atmosphere for a group of recruits; in February its usually centered around a big basketball game. I expect another junior day in March and another big visit weekend at the spring game; 14th of April I think.

      • Jaron Dukes (WR Columbus) has committed.

        • Sounds like a good 'big' receiver; 6'4" at least, listed at 6'5"...

Commit #12, class is half full. I think they take a 3rd receiver in this class, depending on whether backs like Justice Hayes & Dennis Norfleet move to the slot.

          • I thought M fans had Treadwell inked up already? Surely they'd take him. Then they could say they dropped Robert Foster :-)
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

            • Treadwell will be visiting other programs, far from a lock but M is in a good position.

              • He's an interesting offer. He's not highly ranked but you can't teach 6'5. I hope he plays like it.

                  • Smart kid---you can tell that much about him simply from these two facts: 1) he wanted out of Columbus, and 2) He's coming to Michigan.

                    • re: Treadwell - imo he's a Wolverine already if Standifer could've gotten by admissions.

                      • What's your take on Dukes, WM? I see he's only a 3* going into his senior year, is he raw and in need of a couple years of development before he sees the playing field, or will he come in ready to contribute? Deep threat of more of a possession-type receiver? I don't see a 40 time listed at the 247Sports website when I took a quick glance. Even the highlight film was sketchy---didn't see much too impressive on it other than the ability to climb the ladder for the ball and catch it at it's highest point.

                        • Haven't seen enough of Dukes yet, highlight reels of WR prospects are tough to gauge as the camera pans too late to see their routes or to see how they got separation from their defensive back. Most the highlights they are either running right by receivers or they are wide-open...

If he goes to camps this summer, he has a chance to prove himself against top competition and show where he belongs in the rankings. I've currently got him as only a 3-star based upon very limited film, I could bump him up if I see more impressive film of his. Speed is certainly limited (he's no deep threat, unless its a jump ball), he's not going to out-run defensive backs but he's going to have 7" over most B10 corners in addition to being a good leaper.

                          • He did go for 197 yards and three tds against Burrows.

                            • The recruiting analyst at Mgoblog said the issue/concern with Dukes is his speed. With his size, if he can improve his speed, he could be excellent. I think he will redshirt so he can get some extra work.
