  • I think most of them were heavy Michigan leans anyway, but its nice to see them pull the trigger on a day filled with good stuff happening for Michigan.

Verbal commits are shaky commits, as far as I'm concerned. They're not worth much until we get a signed LOI. That being said, I think most of these guys will stay committed.

    • I doubt anyone flip of that bunch.

      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

      • Is Fox a lock at tackle? I figure we need two of them like what we picked up in 2009 with Lewan and Schofield.

This class is looking downright USC-like so far.

Yesterday was the best all-around day for Michigan athletics in a long time. Reminds me of the day basketball beat #1 Duke and then Charles Woodson won the Heisman later that night.

        • Having just seen the Rivals film, I would say Fox could play either tackle or guard and be very productive(he also looks as if he wouldn't be a bad 3-tech DT if he got to focus on that position early enough). I would think he'll start at OT. Dawson, to me, is a guard all the way-- maybe he could kick out to RT, but he doesn't look to have the quick feet you'd want to see in an ideal LT. I don't have a definite opinion about Bosch-- the Rivals film on him is from his sophomore season, and it isn't very good quality. It does show the kid playing outside as a standup TE, though. If he's got the athleticism to do that, it stands to reason he'd get a shot at OT.

          • Remember that Shane Morris is left handed, so the RT spot is going to have his blind side when he drops back. That is going to have to be a stud tackle spot.

            • Excellant point, Liney.

Where do all of yesterday's developments leave us regarding the vital position of Center, though? Does any one of yesterday's 3 OL verbals have potential there? Or does it make it more likely that we move someone from the 2012 class to Center? And what about Naomi...er, I mean, Kozan?

              Inquiring minds want to know.

              • We still really need Kozan. Badly. We don't want to go into 2013 with one scholarship non true freshman center.

                • Rob, I'm not sure of names, but we have a lot of guys who are more Guard/Center, than Guard/Tackle types.

You want your tackles to be tall, with long arms. Your guards can be shorter and a bit stockier, but they still need to be able to move when they are required to pull on sweep-type plays.

Centers and guards are pretty much interchangeable, from the physical point of view, but being able to get off a good snap, AND make a good block, is an acquired skill. Centers rarely have to do any pulling, but they do need to make a good reach block into the "C" and "D" gaps.

                  • I think the speculation is that Dawson may move to C.

                    • It's been 12 hours without a commit. What is hoke doing?

                      • Fox is an OT, Bosch & Dawson are both likely OG's... On the wish list, Tuley-Tillman is an OT... Concur with liney that these kids are really solid, no soft verbals in the bunch. All were leaning M's way for awhile. None of these kids were torn between a couple schools and rushed to a decision...

From those that stalk the recruits via twitter, rumor is another commit may want to join in on yesterdays fun. Jake Butt MIGHT call in his commitment to the coaches today; most commits come via official visits (5 of the 6 were on campus yesterda while Fox called in his commitment from Colorado)...

                        • Not worried about the lack of a true center (Jack Miller is a '11 recruit). No, you can't just plug any guard in there but usually a smart enough guard that gets enough reps at center can figure things out.

                            • Right from Jake's mouth on twitter, Jake 'might' call M coaches to commit today.

                              • Very likely to end up in M's class, as likely as anyone left on the board.
