  • Well, you can never guarantee anything, but it is not common for players to decommit on signing day if they have not even visited another school since they committed to you.

M still in on alot of recruits to fill the last few spots in the class; recruiting board hasn't really changed other than maybe adding Jordan Payton to it and subtracting Yuri Wright:

OL: Joshua Garnett, Jordan Diamond, Alex Kozan...
TE: Sam Grant & JP Holtz (plan B)...
      CB: Armani Reeves, Kenneth Crawley...
      RB: Jordan Payton...

I'm hearing that you all were right and I was wrong with regard to Garnett. Stanford leads with UM right behind. I guess not having an OL coach will do that to you.

Also, initial / early rumors that Bryce Treggs may be waivering on his Cal commitment.

      • M insiders are saying Garnett mostly a M vs Stanford battle and think he'll be a Wolverine though he hasn't come to a decision yet.

        • Hopefully the kid will realize that the magic of Stanford is going to be gone. They've lost the 2 key ingredients (Harbaugh and Andrew Luck) and while I'm sure it is a much better place than it was before Harbaugh, they have rarely had sustained success there.

Harbaugh is proving what a coach he is with SF this year. No offense to the guy following him, but coaches like Harbaugh don't grow on trees.

          • I agree. Stanford is back on its way to being a middling Pac 12 team again.

              • Looks like the rush to Payton makes more sense now with Stonum out.

While that may be true---signing day is still 2 weeks away---the verbal commitment of Barry Jr. to Stanford last week can't do anything but help tip the scales in Stanford's favor with at least a few recruits this year and next.

                      • Read this interview with Kyle Kalis. This dude is already my favorite player.

                        • While Yuri Wright certainly approaches Will Hill, twitter in the hands of high school or even young college students is a disaster waiting to happen. I'd be cautious about casting too many stones unless you've perused the twitter feeds of all your other recruits, some of which I'm sure are, to quote Coach Hoke, "not good."

                          • Speaking of which, heh, man, I love the way this M class talks shit. Kalis is up there with his shit-talking, but Pipkins still takes the cake.

                            • There can be a lot of idiots out there on Twitter. Although this was a particularly poor display by Wright, I have to agree with Talent that you probably don't want to go down the rabbit hole of teenage tweets.

                              • I generally refuse to read them (I did read the first few in the Yuri article and some of Will Hill's legendary tweets). Every day some jackwagon on some forum will post a tweet from someone accompanied by some degree of indignation. It's stupid begetting stupid. I hate it.

I have zero interest in what some recuit from M said about OSU's defensive line or what some OSU recruit said abut M's offensive line. Good god. There are plenty of trivial, borderline creepy things for me to waste my time with -- number 1 being recruiting -- I refuse to care about the tweets of 17 year olds.
