  • Shouldn't be any. I would think a lot of players are looking to bail on Penn State.

    • Except his inability to get a schollie, he should be welcomed.

      • I have no doubt he'd be welcomed. Would he have to sit out a year like Justina Boren? Would he forevermore be unable to receive a scholarship?

        • Anyone who has had a Big Ten scholarship and wants to transfer to another Big Ten school, cannot get a scholarship at the new Big Ten school. That is a league rule. If you transfer from one Big Ten school to another, you have to pay your own way. Justina's parents had to foot the bill for him to play at OlieO. At least, as far as we know. Mike could have "made a lot of money" plowing snow for rich OlieO boosters ... cash, of course ... heh

          • Stupid rule. I think having them sit one year would be enough "punishment". Your Mike Boren plow-for-cash scenario sounds very plausible, though.

            • It's not like you're financially strapped if you go to OSU anyways.

Well, you're financially strapped until you enroll. Then, there are very "creative" ways for student athletes to enhance their revenue opportunities....

                • No, M would need an open scholarship to take him which they don't have. If someone like Arnet or Zettel transfer, it would be best for M for them to wait till after the spring semester after some attrition hits.

                  • Liney is correct, Zettel (coming from a B10 school) couldn't get a scholarship from M.

                    • Hey wait! -- regarding Pharoah Brown, didn't James Ross visit OSU after he committed? I think a picture was posted here with him making an M with his fingers while in their fugly stadium. What's the difference in situations? Perhaps Ross sought permission?

                      • IIRC, Ross went with a friend of his who is considering OlieO. Ross was not taking a visit, he was along for the ride. I don't think OlieO was ever interested in Ross anyway.

                        • What's this? Is Dave Brandon growing a spine?

                          • It's interesting that Brandon would take the time and initiative to write an e-mail to the AP to whine about this issue. Ohio State is, obviously, on his mind.

In any event, the folks recruiting for Ohio State are the same ones coaching the bowl game, with the exception of UFM. Fickell, Vrabel and Drayton have been on the road. They're on the current staff. Somehow -- and I'm not sure how -- they've managed to recruit with their bowl game looming.

On topic, Dunn still 50/50 from what I read.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
                            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

                            • Brandon should STFU and save his whining for something that really matters. This perhaps seems unfair, but in the end is it really going to make a difference and does anyone still think the NCAA is about rules? And, since when does the successful prosecution of a rival happen via quotes like that? Hoke wouldn't have done that, I bet. He responded in a press conference like this:

“You know, I think it’s a little different. I’ve never heard of it before. I may have gone that route … It’s different. That would be my reaction. I’ve never heard of it, but there’s probably a lot of things I haven’t heard of. There are a lot of things. So, you know, it’s different. Is it an advantage? Yeah, I think so.”

Much better approach. Lets someone else bring it up, and then makes the point without appearing like his panties are in a bunch or that he's overly concerned.
