Right. To put in terms of my beloved Steelers, heh, they want Aaron Smith (I know, different scheme and such).

The blame for all of this crap lies with the premium recruiting sites who have made it a business. Indirectly, national word on a HS player that bumps up his rep, creates an environment where pay for play schemes from boosters might flourish and provides worthless work for recruiting analysts who are paid to collect worthless data by lazy coaching staffs.
All in all its bad.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Where there is a lot of interest in where these kids want to go to college and play football, there will be money to profit from that interest via web advertising...
I don't see too much downside for the fans/schools but the attention is likely difficult on a lot of the 15-18 yr olds who can't handle the attention properly. They are busy enough with school, part-time jobs and recruiters calling them. Now they have so-called recruiting experts calling/texting them in addition to facebook/twitter stalkers writing them.

Serious question for Mr. Talent.
Is the school that Kyle Kalis is coming from known for putting out D1 players? I'm just doing a bit of research on HS teams in ohio, and I noticed his school plays a lot of games against out of state schools. Is that just because they want to play better competition, or is it because local ohio schools don't want to play them, or what?

We found out what triggered Armani Reeves getting back on the recruiting board, prefer Armani to Standifer too...
Back to a recruiting class of 23 recruits, 5 spots left to fill. They'll likely go WR, RB, CB, OL & BRA... Updated recruiting board:
RB: Wes Brown, Bri'onte Dunn...
WR: Jordan Payton, Jehu Chesson...
OL: Jordan Diamond, Joshua Garnett & Evan Boehm...
CB: Yuri Wright & Armani Reeves....
Tight end they offered recently too, Kalis teammate maybe?

Liney:
St. Ed's plays a big time schedule. Probably the weakest part of their schedule is the two Youngstown parochial schools (Mooney+Ursuline) and that's only b/c they're "small" catholic schools. They play the two best programs in the Cleveland area in Glenville and Ignatius (Mentor is in the conversation, too, and Ed's does play them from some regularity). They always play at least two Cincinnati parochial schools -- 3 this year. And a couple OoS games. This year, they played Don Bosco -- probably he #1 team in the nation. I haven't seen the film of that game (Bosco thrashed them), but you'd probably see Kalis v Darius Hamilton on numerous plays. The reason they have to go OoS is to find games. They're independent. Tough to fill those 7 "conference" weeks.
As for putting out D-1 players, Ed's has been ok. Ignatius has been far better, as has Glenville. The dynamic is this. Ignatius gets the bulk of the CYO kids -- and Cleveland has a huge CYO program. I mean, Catholic Junior High's are out recruiting at the 11/12 year old games. And Ignatius does a great job of getting the best CYO kids. Ed's gets its fair share, but they had relied on attacting black players more than Ignatius. Glenville, and their open enrollment, ate into that. So Ed's has repurposed itself a bit and is better at working the CYO angle. But, if I were to grossly generalize, the best CYO kids come out of Ignatius and the best "city" kids come out of Glenville.
Mentor (Strobel) and GlenOak (Dunn) play standard public schools schedules. IMO, Mentor's league is a bit better. Colerain (Bolden) is also a public school schedule (Colerain's defense was really good this year), though they always play St. X non-conference. Whitmer (Wormely) is public, too. Whitmer's schedule is, by far, the worst, IMO. They stick to Toledo and, at most, play the two big catholic schools there. WHitmer, though, is a program on the rise. They do a nice job of drawing talent there. Trotwood-Madison (in Dayton) is another program that is doing a really nice job of drawing D-1 talent.
Kalis, though, has played against big-time competition on, more or less, a weekly basis for his entire career.
Incidentally, if you want to see who any Ohio HS school played, this is a great site: http://www.joeeitel.com/hsfoot/ . St. Ed's is Division 1, Region 1.Last edited by iam416; December 9, 2011, 09:05 AM.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

From OSU's perspective, it's not even close. Kalis was far more valuable than Dunn. Personally, I think Kalis will contribute early--he'll see snaps as a true freshman, IMO. And OL is a huge position of need for OSU. RB is not.
I'd trade Dunn and sixer of Schlitz for Kalis in a heartbeat.
IMO, losing Kalis and Pittman were the two biggest recruiting losses directly attributable to the "troubles."Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
