  • Afaik, he would be redshirting.

I dont know if it's right or wrong but it seems to me the guys who like to play with their recruits that play with their recruitment aren't the guys that blow the doors off at the collegiate level.

Unless Arnett is paying his own way, I would assume his scholarship would count as soon as he transferred (read: 2012). He has to be enrolled at the school he is transferring to for the year prior to being eligible to play.

      • I'm guessing he'd go to MSU then probably.

        • Why can a whole university transfer from the Big East to the Big 12 and play right away but one guy transfers to another school and has to sit out a year? Silly rule I think.

          • If Arnett isn't going to UT in the winter/spring (sounds like he's gone after this fall semester); it won't be easy to get him to AA unless he wants to be a preferred walk-on till the fall.

              • ..... and speaking of one of the most worhtless organizations in the world possibly eclipsing the worthlessness of the UN, the NCAA. Nothing "stupid" coming out of that entitiy should surprise or appear to be silly to anyone.

I don't think it's fixable either. Mainly because things like the Titanic, a huge lumbering ship whose central design was seriously flawed, cannot be turned easily. Momentum.

Old farts among the NCAA literati need to get out of the way, let go of their moneyed interests, stupid adhearance to amateurism in college sports and let some smart peole get on with creating a govenring body and rules for college sports that are worth a shit.

"The issue (with the NCAA) is select administrators getting rich while other, poorer people beat their brains out. In such an environment, trips to Miami and free tattoos and loaner cars are inevitable. Fixing that is the real issue."
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • If you didn't have to sit out a year, tons of kids would transfer every year. You think pay for play is bad in recruiting? If every player was essentially a free-agent every year, you'd have so much illegal money flying around it would be crazy.

You're right that's why half the WORLD is screaming for AQ status. There's NO money to be had by these universities whatsoever. Look at that fucking Big East mess and tell me shit is even SORT OF RIGHT. well online you can easy but if we were talking football face to face there's no way you could look me in the eye and say that to me, is there? Doubt it.

                    • That's irrelevant. You are comparing apples to oranges.

If you allowed players to freely transfer every year, college football would become ridiculous. This isn't just a guess--we've seen exactly what happens when this kind of policy is implemented by city high schools. It becomes a mess, with teams constantly trying to steal players from other teams using any methods (legal or not) to do so.

How would you feel if next year Denard Robinson suited up for Auburn just because his dad "found" a bag with 200K in it this offseason? That would be great, woudn't it?

Recruiting is already a sordid affair, but at least it happens once per player and you are done. Why would you want to turn it into a situation where every team had to re-recruit their own players to keep them from leaving every season?

Well, nothing wrong with that as long as Denard doesn't know about it!
