D'Juan Waller 6'3" 195lb defensive back. I think they will try him at corner and if he cant flip his hips fast enough move to safety

I believe that you are going to see Ohio State taking some steps backward. Yes they are recruiting at an elite level but with Raiola leaving expect some of the wideouts to look after they get killed vs Georgia. They are a great offensive team but they have lost their edge. They get bullied and they quit on the field, fighting with each other and pointing blame. The best thing for OSU is to lose Coolridge Bernard Stroud IV to the NFL because he is not a leader. Just my opinion

Anyway, the Portal actually fits in really well with HARBAUGH!!!!'s team construction. He core of his team are not really NFL draftable. They stay the full 5 years (or 6 w/ the Covid year). Then you end up with 23-yr olds playing 19-20 yr olds. And the portal fits that to a tee. What he's lacked is the sprinkling of elite talent that you absolutely need. McCarthy and Edwards and Will Johnson are definitely NFL players. And Corum, of course. Mazi Smith, too, especially if they can continue to postpone sentencing. Heh.
But that's certainly his OL approach. He's not starting young 'uns. It's a nice approach to offset his generally meh recruiting efforts. It took awhile to implement because, well, you need long-term program kids AND the portal just came about. But it's there.
He's still always going to need to get that QB. And that will always be a concern. And maybe a few more elite players that you just can't scoop up in the portal. But as a backbone, his approach is a nice way to combat significantly more talented teams.
Michigan lost their highest-rated recruit to Miami. Perhaps Miami is offering big bucks to only a few recruits. I wish UM would do that exact thing. You are right that UM needs 5* talent to augment the HARBAUGH team construction.
The way UM is doing it in the transfer portal with regard to offensive linemen seems prudent to me. How often do we say that even a 5* OL recruit will need a couple of years to "rearrange" his body and learn about playing at a higher level? When you look at the parade of 5* WRs that OSU gets, it just seems to me that UM should pay big for a great receiver each year.
Finally, the NIL chart does reflect reality. Texas is first with 290K. Alabama is second at 136k., Miami is at 91k which would have to grow 50% to match Alabama. MSU is paying their recruits almost double what UM is paying.
I'd like to see UM play one of their non-conference games in NYC to cater to the high number of UM grads there are in NYC. If you want perpetual big NIL income for UM, it seems wise to go to where the advertisers are. UM always polls as the favorite NYC college football team.

Seth at mgo did a great recap and commentary on M's use of the portal. Questions he deals with are how positions of need are being filled and what bringing in portal guys, older and with CFB game experience, over younger guys who were recruited out of HS and are waiting patiently in line to start. He talks specifically about the centers on the OL. It's a long article with some good points. https://mgoblog.com/content/portal-p...so-much-portal
Today, M signed IU QB Jack Tuttle from the portal. He's been all over the place during his college career, his last gig at IU where he backed up Pinex. Got some playing time when Pinex went down and played well until he got sacked 4X at PSU and was broken. He came back to play v. osu and suffered a separated shoulder. He's a grad transfer with 1 year of eligibility left. He'll replace the departing Allen Bowman and will be #3 on the QB depth chart behind McCarthy and probably Warren.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Yeah, mediocre to shitty QBs don't do much for me. They're either good or not. An otherwise meh Stanford OL could be good if he's 23 and has all those years of body development on him that other kids do not.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

For me either ...... but the QB room needed back-ups and Tuttle fits that role and apparently is happy to fulfil it. The OL work JH has been doing in the portal has been pivotal so, yeah, this unit looks like a winner in the portal free-for-all. The unit that's not doing well by recruiting or via the portal is DB specifically quality corners.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Indiana transfer TE AJ Barner commits to Michigan
Losing Erick All and Louis Hansen, Luke Schoonmaker, and Joel Honigford, also Carter Selzer is out of eligibility. Michigan is in need of a tight end who can immediately contribute.
Barner fixs this immediately with Colston Loveland, and Max Bredeson.

According to Mgoblue.com there are no big surprises in LOI's today. Michigan has gotten LOI's from everyone that they expected. I guess there are a few others out there that could surprise, but I'm not holding my breath.

Any kind of NCAA rules to provide framework to the NIL deals is going to have to require some sort of collective bargaining that can only be done with a union. Until then it's going to be a free for all for awhile. Eventually things will settle down because some of these huge amounts of money spent on unproven high school players is going to blow up like it did at A&M.

4* CB Jyaire Hill has chosen Michigan after more or less trolling the college football world by not putting us in his Top 5.
