Yeah, well, that's Michigan for you. We can't overcome our own hubris and put out a fucking normal elite-program football team like Alabagman does, but we do come in pretty high on the character front. I bet you the deciding factor in this recruitment was when Hill noticed saw that DaShaun Hand didn't even end up majoring in engineering. Perhaps Hill wants to do more than just pretend he wants to cure cancer and save puppies.Comment

In reality, it's quite the conundrum for the "they cheat/we don't" folks when you go heads up against Alabama (or some other school you think cheats). If you read the various articles about how the bagman works, it's pretty damn hard to think your particular recruit didn't get a little something something. Now, perhaps that recruit is some full of integrity and so awesome that he'll turn down all the cash and the pick your angelic side over the one offering thousands. You know, like Aubrey Solomon surely did when he picked M over Georgia. It's certainly possible, I guess.
But, if you think that every Alabama recruit is one the take -- especially the 5* kids -- then it seems hard to square. M fans are good at make-believe, though. I believe Winovich refers to it as a "mirage."Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Alabama, if we are to believe the narrative here, never really and truly had Hill. They fed him a line about the Michigan staff's potential departures from Michigan, and he overreacted. And then calmed down, got the facts, and put himself back where he wanted to be.
