Going from Gee's Bend to Geeopolis doesn't count.

A Respect Point for your thoughts: IMO if you're cooking it that low and that slow you don't need sauce on the table. That's what bugs me the most about what is, otherwise, a brilliant thing. Maybe if some weren't so sugary.

    • I'm not too far away from having a recruiting board for '18. It's accuracy will leave a lot to be desired and gets more and more accurate with time.

        • I haven't done Satchel's in Ann Arbor in years, but the ribs were pretty damn good. In DC here, there's some good stuff. None of it mind-blowing, but all of it plenty tasty. Some of the best I've had though is a place in rural NE PA, on a route we take to get to Canada. IIRC the pitmaster is from Georgia. Unless you're arguing terroir, there's no reason to assume there's nothing good up north.

I have been to the Hard 8, in Stephenville, TX, which I'm told is what Texans think is The Best. It was great, but not head/shoulders above.

Blasphemy. Hard 8 is meh. Personally, I'm a Hutchins fan in Mckinney/Frisco. Also, Pecan Lodge in Downtown Dallas is delicious. Gimme a moist smoked brisket with delicious bark and I'll give you a winning BBQ joint.

            • MGoBlog podcast -- they think Phil Paea will switch to guard -- looked possibly 4 star as high school guard

                • I like Paea better as an OG too, rivals has him rated as a guard. It'll be sorted out in the Fall most likely but I think he was recruited over in the same class as a 3T; James Hudson, Donovan Jeter, Deron Irving-Bey all are 3T/SDE types. Corey Malone-Hatcher is strictly a SDE...

                  Paye & Vilain are WDE's.

Def a dual threat guy, not a crossover pro-style guy in the McCaffrey mold.
Only offer. I guess you can take from that whatever you want.

                      • Seth and Ace (or whoever is on the MGoBlog podcast) are very high on Hudson as an interior defensive lineman -- claim he is underrated.

Those were for the 247 rankings alone.

                          The 247 Composite (247+Scout+Rivals+ESPN) is here: http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Foo...teTeamRankings

                          • Also, M's class this year would historically be a little higher. I'm not sure that there's ever been 3 schools above 300 in the Composite. Alabama's class, I think, has the 2nd highest all-time score (behind UFM's 2010 Florida class), and I believe OSU's class obliterated the all-time average high -- I'm not sure any class has ever topped 94, and OSU was at 94.47 even after taking a wild ass flier on a mid-3* WR.

M's 2017 class is pretty damn even with OSU's 2016 class and better than M's 2016 class. So, it'll do the trick.

I assume 2018 will be the year the back-to-back classes of 30 catch up to M. It'll be a challenging recruiting year with numbers and because they won't have a natural in-state backbone to the class.

                            • I think that we'll still take 20+ in 2018. The senior class is small, but there is a lot of transfer bait on the roster.

                              • Here are guys who I could see not being on the roster by this time next year, due to lack of playing time or not being asked back for a fifth year (except for Newsome):

                                Drake Harris WR
                                Nate Johnson WR
                                Grant Newsome OT (medical)
                                Alex Malzone QB
                                Jared Wangler LB
                                Kingston Davis RB
                                Lawrence Marshall DE
                                Zak Gentry TE
