You're asking that the NCAA create a new authority for itself and take on a completely new role if you demand they take action on this matter. The same NCAA that is inept, understaffed, biased, inconsistent, and which lacks any legal power of subpoena. You want them to invent a new power for themselves on the fly and come down as hard as possible? You're opening a Pandora's Box of trouble and ushering in a new, even more inept Age of NCAA stupidity.
And again, this is a scandal first and foremost of COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION. This is not a first and foremost a football program scandal, even if the employee at the center of it all was a football coach. If the most respected Prof. in the Engineering Dept. turned out to be a pedo and PSU's administration had covered that up, it would be an ADMINISTRATION PROBLEM, not a "problem of corruption throughout the Engineering program from top to bottom which must result in the complete eradication of the department".
