There is a new article about the Penn State scandal in ESPN's magazine this week. It paints the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Corbett, in a very negative light and focuses on his role on the Board of Trustees.

Talked to a Sparty friend of mine today and he said they DON'T play any of Wisconsin, Ohio State or Penn State in '13 & '14. Easiest possible B10 schedule? They'll obviously play the 'west': Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, then Indiana, Purdue & Illinois from the 'east'...
That is a Big East type schedule with only ND as a decent OOC opponent in '13. In '14 they replace ND with Oregon...
Obviously this is the 'concession' MSU got when they went to the 'west' instead of the 'east.' M got to keep its rivalry with Ohio as the last game of the season... Wisky got a cupcake of a rivalry game with Minnesota...

Sad news...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota linebacker Gary Tinsley was found dead in his campus apartment Friday morning, university officials said.
Tinsley, 22, was found unresponsive in his apartment at Roy Wilkins Hall on the Minneapolis campus, team spokesman Andy Seeley said. The cause of death wasn't immediately released.
Emergency responders were not able to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at the scene around 8 a.m., university spokesman Chuck Tombarge said. He said there was no indication of foul play.
Tinsley, who was from Jacksonville, Fla., completed his eligibility at the end of the 2011 season. He played in 44 games during his Gopher career.
He was No. 2 in total tackles with 87 stops last season. He compiled 198 total tackles over his career.
Tinsley signed with Minnesota out of First Coast High School in 2008.
He played seven games as a freshman in 2008, saw action in each of the Gophers' 13 games in 2009 and started all 12 games in 2010 and 2011. He was a four-year letter-winner.
The athletic department scheduled a Friday afternoon news conference with coach Jerry Kill, senior quarterback MarQueis Gray and university Police Chief Greg Hestness.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Penn State says it provided Joe Paterno's estate with more than $5.5 million in payments and benefits Thursday to settle his employment contract.
School spokesman Bill Mahon said the university and Paterno's estate finalized the remaining payments that were due to the longtime coach, who was fired in November in the wake of former assistant Jerry Sandusky's arrest on child sexual abuse charges.
Paterno died of lung cancer in January at age 85.
A breakdown provided by the school included: a career bonus of $3 million; an annual bonus of $425,000; the use by Paterno's family of a Beaver Stadium suite for 25 years, valued at $1.5 million; and $900,000 from television and radio revenue from last season.
The deal also pledges payments to the coach's widow, Sue Paterno, of $1,000 a month for life, and gives her on-campus parking and access to university hydrotherapy equipment.
No one answered the phone at the Paterno home in State College late on Thursday, and messages for Paterno lawyer Wick Sollers and spokesman Dan McGinn were not immediately returned.
Other elements of the package include a final paycheck of $34,000; a death benefit of $51,000; a bowl bonus of $50,000 and $350,000 -- payable over five years -- under a 1986 consulting agreement. The university also agreed to forgive $350,000 in outstanding loans and debt. No explanation was provided regarding Paterno's debts to the school.
While the school said in a news release that the total value of the package was "over $5.5 million," added together the various elements are worth about $6.7 million.
Mahon said the trustees decided to honor the terms of Paterno's contract as if he had retired at the end of the 2011 season.
"That contract recognized Coach Paterno's decades-long contributions to our football program and to the entire university," Mahon said.
The board of trustees fired Paterno as coach just days after Sandusky was arrested, and have said a "failure of leadership" on his part contributed to the decision.
Paterno spent six decades at Penn State and 46 seasons as head coach, winning two national championships and becoming the face of the university.
Sandusky is awaiting a June trial on 52 charges for alleged abuse of 10 boys over a 15-year period, allegations he has repeatedly denied. Also charged were athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz, accused of lying to a grand jury and failing to report suspected child abuse. They also await trial and have denied the allegations.
The scandal also led to the departure of university president Graham Spanier, who remains a faculty member.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

Sounds like the Big10-Pac12 pact will get off to a shaky start. Gene Smith already saying that he thinks OSU will start in 2018 rather than 2017 since we already have UNC and Oklahoma on the schedule in 2017.
Some (unnamed) Pac12 schools are also less enthusiastic about adding more BCS schools to their schedules

No surprise, the Two conferences are only taking themselves further out of the national championship picture with this arrangement...there is a reason M plays a non-con road game (other than the one 5 miles from the state line) once a decade.Atlanta, GA
