I don't think there's any way Jonathan Smith leaves Oregon State for Michigan State if the PAC-12 hadn't disintegrated this year. That's a good football coach leaving his alma mater during an important transition period. It's a good hire for Michigan State, but I hate to see that for Oregon State.

I like the hire for MSU. Smith is a good coach. The question to me is can Smith have success recruiting in the midwest? He’s a West Coast guy. We’ll see…
If Smith can get the Oregon State backup QB Chiles to transfer portal over, that would be a positive start. Highly regarded QB recruit that Oregon State would randomly use on at least one possession a game. I always thought that was weird with DJ-U there, but had to keep Chiles happy.
John L Smith vs Jonathan Smith. The similar name factor is funny.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

He's got a big job ahead of him. That program is still a dumpster fire and has lost more commitments just this past week.
He needs to clean house and get rid of the thug element. He also needs to keep Dantionio and any of his former assistants out of the program. They may have won some games with him but he left a real stench on that program."in order to lead America you must love America"

There's some talk that Indiana might try to interview Sheronne Moore. I don't think that's going to happen. I think M is going to sweeten the pot to keep Moore. I'm not sure he's looking for a reason to leave anyway. And Indiana is going to be a total rebuild."in order to lead America you must love America"

I can’t imagine a scenario where BOTH Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore are back next season. Would love it, but it seems like M will have to think carefully about who they’re going to back as HC going forward. Harbaugh faces a certain NCAA suspension in 2024 and will receive NFL (Raiders? Bears?) interest again. Tough decision.
Just need to enjoy the 2023 season while we can because the future has so much uncertainty. Win a national title and give us the memories! I’ll gladly take it. The rest of the noise is meaningless to me.
As for IU, yeah… I can understand giving Moore, Hart, or Minter a call.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Being an optimist, I give Harbaugh a 60/40 chance he stays. We should know if he signs a new contract before the CFP. My take on JH is that he loves Ann Arbor and Michigan football. So much so that he'd rather just age out and retire as M's HC on his terms. His wife, Sarah, notoriously dislikes moving. She and Jim are involved in multiple national and local charities.
Mike Hart is probably gone to where, I would think, to a MAC HC job or other FCS school. Moore and Minter? Those two guys staying is a long shot but if Harbaugh does bolt for the NFL, Moore will be on the list of interviewees for M's new HC.
What M desperately needs is a new AD. That would be the call of Santa Ono and the regents. I'd like to see an AD with Don Canham's PR skills. He unabashedly promoted M football as the front porch to the University of Michigan. I can dream.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. If Moore avoids getting caught up in CS enterprise then he will be M’s HC in 2024. That’s my caveated prediction.
My uncaveated prediction is that HARBAUGH*** will not be coaching M in 2024.

Well, you're going with the 40%, I'm going with 60%. There may have been additional damning information, not yet publicly reveled and acted upon by the NCAA or B10, that the NCAA has discovered. That would likely be that upper level Michigan staff were directly involved in Stalions' program.
If subsequent to the CFP or heaven forbid between now and the conclusion of the CFP, the NCAA or B10 under the sportsmanship rules presents new information that reveals Harbaugh knew or should have known and slaps additional sanctions on him, I suspect he'll resign. If I was advising him I'd offer he act as a sole claimant and challenge those sanctions in court with a civil defamation suit. JMO, YMMV.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Well, heh…I don’t see it as 40%, but I get that the point is you see it as a real possibility. So you wouldn’t be surprisedDan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I could see Houston making a run at Sherrone Moore now that they've fired Dana Holgorsen. I could also see Moore in the running for the Kansas job if Lance Leipold moves on. I'd think Indiana might be more likely to come after Jesse Minter-- both Jesse and his father have experience coaching in Indiana. Of course, Rick Minter has experience coaching damn near everywhere, and that might lead him to encourage his son to wait for a better opportunity.

What makes you think Harbaugh wants to be back in the NFL? I can see him sick of being accused of cheating but he's not a quitter. One of his lines is you must face every challenge and win everyday. Everyday is a challenge that you must overcome and win. Jim is quirky and just as likely to stick his chin out and say screw all you people. At Michigan, we are winners and will continue to show the world we are just that. I'm staying to prove that point.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. I think the most serious punishment that Harbaugh and Michigan are going to face from the NCAA is going to be related to his 'lying' to the NCAA more than the Stalions matter. The NCAA has already admitted that there is no direct evidence linking Harbaugh to Stalions actions. What the NCAA is most pissed about is his so-called "lying" to them during their investigation of the hamburger matter. Their self-righteous "harumph-ing" over that matter is epic.

The NCAA was just beginning their investigation. I mean, that was the whole point of the "due process" argument. They didn't have any evidence of directly tying staff to CS at the outset -- just the CS evidence. So, they statement from the NCAA was very much "at this time."Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
